New 2013 CB1100A owner from Metcalfe Ontario - Marc - 02-05-2018 09:47 AM

Hi to all.

I am the new owner of a 2013 CB1100A in Pearl Sunbeam White (7,000 km). It also has the chrome engine guards and a matching road comet faring.

My motivation for making the purchase was that I have been in the process of rebuilding a 1978 GL1000 naked Gold wing. I always loved the look of that bike in its naked form. However I find that lately I've been lacking the patience to continue on with that rebuild project. When I saw the CB1100 at the dealership, while I was picking up a nine dollar bottle of shock oil, it was just too much to resist. Funny how a nine dollar bottle of oil can result in a motorcycle purchase. I guess the dealers count on that and that's why they put the parts counters at the far back of the Shops so that you have to walk through the showroom floor to get to it. (Ikea is the master of that).

I just ordered the factory heated grip kit and I'm now looking for a rear rack so that I can mount my GIVI W46 box from time to time, if required, for longer journeys and to provide a back rest for my wife when we ride two up. Looking for a rack idea that would be relatively stealthy as I don't want to detract from the look of the bike with a typical GIVI mount.

Would appreciate suggestions if anybody else has mounted that top box on the CB1100 in a stealthy way.

I'm in my mid-50s, an engineer, and also own a 2012 BMW F650GS, and a 2016 Honda CRF250L . (Also a 1978 GL1000 project that will likely get sold off its parts)

I truly appreciate the wealth of knowledge that a forum such as this one can provide two new members and owners.

Thanks again.

Marc

Welcome Marc!

I am just down the road from Metcalfe in Stonebridge (south western Barrhaven).

The only rear rack I have seen so far that does not detract from the look of the CB1100 is the chrome Honda rear rack. But it is no more stealthy than the chrome engine guards. There are lots of images of it on this website. The only supplier for them is Samurider in Japan, a sponsor for this forum.

The rack is pretty, but not inexpensive. I just ordered one for my 2017 CB1100 EX from Samurider. The rack is CDN$270 and postage CDN$89. The Canadian Post Office may also add customs clearance and Sales Taxes totaling an additional $60.
