Thanks for posting that Ghis. That is now what I do as well. Just start the nuts by hand and then put the 12mm ring spanner over the nut and then tighten from the bolt end.

Having removed and replaced that rack many times now I could probably update the post but if anyone follows the general outline they will soon work out what suits them.

Cheers

Indeed! I printed off this thread and used it when I installed my rack yesterday. It was a big help to me. The socks over the turn signals is a great tip to save them from allen wrench scrapes. Thank you Pterodactyl for the very clear write up and all the pics.

Any chance I can talk you into measuring the bolts and spacers next time you take it off? I purchased this rack and the hardware was lost in shipping.

Are all of the supplied bolts socket head cap screws?

Are the spacers a constant OD (no taper or steps)?

If you look at the link I posted, it shows the parts. The spacers are like, well, top hats.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Sorry Kenny,

Thought I posted this: http://cssportal.css-club.net/honda/MCA/TERMS010.aspx

Log in as user, select larger than 1000cc, select the CB1100 (default selection seems to be the PCX). Scroll down in the accessories list and click on the .pdf for the rack or carrier.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

I think you could make a suitable spacer by using a cylinder spacer with a washer or two at the rack end of it. A bit harder to assemble when installing, but if you don't remove the rack often, it should be fine.

I bought some hardware store spacers and will be turning them down on a lathe today. The longer bolts I purchased were too short so I have another trip to make.
