RE: 2018 Forum Rally Poll
We had 19 riders register for the Arkansas rally and 7 show up. I believe that at 17 of the 19 had every intention of attending, but significant life events came up (most revealed to me privately) which prevented their attendance. Of those registered (meaning that they signed up on the rally website and booked their lodging). we had 2 from Ohio, 2 from Wisconsin, 2 from Mass., 2 from Arkansas, 2 from Indiana, 1 from Illinois, 1 from Michigan, 1 from Florida, 1 from Kansas, 1 from Montana, 1 from Missouri, 1 from Nebraska, and 1 from Colorado.

We had several folks who, in my estimation, wanted very much to attend, but knew early on that they had a schedule conflict. I don't have exact stats on those, but I know that these conflicts kept Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona from being represented. In addition, we would have probably had at least one more from Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri in attendance.

To my knowledge, we had no one from Texas or Tennessee express serious interest, both states from which I thought the location would be attractive. I was also surprised that more people from Missouri and Colorado didn't express interest.

I put all of this out there to let folks know that we had at least 20, and probably more like 25, riders to which the distance to Arkansas was not a factor in their decision to attend. There are a few, I suspect, that may have trekked to Arkansas if it were not for the existence of the Idaho rally. My point is that timing, more than distance, might be the bigger factor influencing attendance. Again, my suggestion is that we have 2 rallies per year (perhaps a spring rally and a fall rally?), one east of the Mississippi and one west. If people want to set up other gatherings, that's great, but they should not be called 'rallies' and the organizers should be careful not to schedule them too close to the scheduled rallies.

That was my thinking with planing the Idaho rally. If the east coast rally ends up more NE next year the West coast rally could go SW.

Gents, I planned on coming this year, but got stuck going to a last second meeting for work. I will do my best to make it next year and I look forward to meeting everyone.

RE: 2018 Forum Rally Poll
i do believe that a 3 day ride cant be a 12-24 hr trip to get to
some of the retired riders really like to go to these but for the guys that work and hang with families the one day down and one day home makes it a week of vacation for most
i would look at it more of a 2-3 day meet up and rides and have 6-8 a year across the country or maybe more
if you could get 60 guys to one rally that would be awesome. but i dont think that many guys are gonna ride 3k in a week
you are better off having smaller venues and you will get more people to them because of the shorter ride
Honda has rallies because they invite all bikes and Harley has them and invites all bikes, well kinda, BMW same thing
but we are a very small segment of the motorcycling and your not likley to get enough people to ride 1k to a meet
now believe me i want to go but i live in MN and idaho would be 1000 miles for me and even if i trucked it out i would likely not do that based on time off of work
i had a great time with the st1300 guys when they all met up in MN her and had a great ride with them
it was like 15 guys and gals
im not busting balls here so dont take it personal i just think 10-15 cb1100 running down the road together would be an awesome sight to see and however we need to get that done we should just get it done

RE: 2018 Forum Rally Poll
I have enjoyed the rallies and was sad to have missed the Arkansas event. My family situation made it impossible this time. It is easier if it's closer to Ohio since I am still a workin' boy. But I'll go with the flow on this one and if I can't make it, I'll live vicariously through pics!

Being a teacher my holidays are pretty set, so July and August are all that work for me, I can't get time off in June, too busy with finals and exams. Would have loved to attend the last rally, but couldn't get out of work at that time.

would second the vote for New England--Vermont has particularly nice roads and mountains--or Lake George, both of which are within reasonable distance of Montreal and our Canadian brethren (and sistren)

RE: 2018 Forum Rally Poll
My wife has family spread throughout New England and we've visited there many times over the years. I've never ridden a motorcycle in that area, but often think about it when we are out in that neck of the woods. One time we made a trip out when my wife's cousin got married. At some point they made use of a small procession of classic sports cars and were short on drivers to get them to the location so I was asked if I could help out and drive a beautiful old MGB to the event. Gorgeous scenery, top down, beautiful weather — it was great. A motorcycle ride under those same conditions would be fantastic. One day it will happen for me. Hey, maybe at a CB1100 Forum rally?

RE: 2018 Forum Rally Poll
Road quality/maintenance is a big issue in New England. Some of my favorite roads in western Mass, southern Vermont and southern NH have stretches that will rattle your teeth.

Also, the rally is usually held on or around memorial day (may 28th, 2018) and that's marks the first weekend of summer and a lot of folks from NY/NJ head north to New England for the long weekend.
