2017 CB1100's ...addition to our History Section. Please do not post to it
Now entering it's 8th year of production Honda sprang some suprises on the world at the Intermot show with the introduction of 2 slightly modified EX models and 2 all new highly modified RS models.

The EX gets a seamless tank (reportedly off the CB1300), led lights front and rear (but keeps std turn signals), a slipper clutch and a new exhaust. It will come in two colors Yellow and white

The RS model (Ralleye Sports?) is a ground up change.

The CB1100RS gets a new, curvier pressed aluminum tank with fancy paint. All of the lighting, including the signals, has been swapped out for LED units. It also gets a new 43 mm right side up Showa "dual bending valve two-piece fork" and remote reservoir shocks which connect to 17 inch cast aluminum wheels and dual radial Tokico calipers.

The engine is also slightly revised, with a new inlet tract and smaller/lighter 4-2-2 exhaust system. It's accompanied by a slipper clutch to lighten the clutch pull and limit back torque on aggressive downshifts.

The new frame, suspension and smaller wheels give the RS a 5mm shorter wheelbase of 1,485mm and a rake/trail of 26º/99mm (compared to the 27º/114mm of the EX). Seat height comes in at 31.3 inches, while wet weight is 555 pounds.

It wil also come in two colors, Red and Black

It's yet to be determined if any of these will be coming to the U.S.

There are threads going currently on the 17's in the General Section of the Forum. Please direct your comments to those threads.

This thread is just an informational update to our CB1100 history sub forum, for future viewing, so no need for anyone to respond to it.

The 17 EX we got in the U.S (and Canada I believe) is a real pretty red with a tiny gold flake in it. Color code R-342-C ... Candy Prominence Red.

there are so many changes to this bike besides the obvious tank shape we concentrate on and I will list the one's I know of and noticed starting at the front wheel

* Spoked wheels with tube type tires
* Different mounting for the discs
* different reflector
* New forks with dual bending valve technology
* new lower triple tree which bolts in the back
* new upper tree which bolts in the back
* new horns with chrome rings
* new chrome headlight bucket
* new chrome instrument cups
* LED headlight
* new faces on instruments
* new mounting position for turn signals in fork ears
* new turn signals
* new mounting position for handlebars
* master cylinders unpainted for brake and clutch
* new slipper clutch
* new fuel tank of seamless design
* new flush style gas cap
* new seat
* new air cleaner covers with chrome stripe
* new triangular brushed aluminum side covers that fit inside frame tubes like the 13's
* new solid looking passenger peg mounting bracket
* new smaller length and diameter mufflers
* new 2 tone paint on cyl head (silver) and cylinders (black)
* new grab rail
* new tail light assy
* new metal chain guard
* new mounting for rear caliper

if I find any other differences I will add then to this list. I think there are some internal motor differences. I will research that.

Very nice though I would prefer solid wheels and tubeless tires.

I like it because it is a CB with dual exhaust.

New Chain I believe.
Not only are the wheels new to North America, they are different to previous spoked wheels on the CB1100 EX (less spokes, but longer, with smaller hubs. Different coating on the spokes)
