have not road in 35 years, had cb125,cb36,cb450 & cb900c (ALL AT THE SAME TIME) Got married and you guys know the rest of the story. going to take the test to get license in Florida, a two day safety endorsement. after that id like to get the new '17 cb1100 coming out and to get the ol lady up to speed a Goldwing to tour. I think she will like to ride on the back (cross your fingers) back to the cb1100, you guys with the cb1100's, do you rally like them? if there is 1 negative thing about them what would it be? thanks Glenn

No problem whatsoever mechanically. Ride is smooth and everything. Plenty of power & torque, Inline-4 sound, and classic looks. Not to mention, Honda reliability.

If I had to give you negative thoughts..

1. I found it a bit too heavy at stop/slow speed(like parking lot maneuver) but I'm only 5'3 135lb and everybody else told me it's not bad at all.
2. I also found that seat could be better for after hours of long ride, but 2017 has revised seat so I don't know.
3. Fuel consumption gets kind of bad if you ride aggressively, but it's a 1140cc Inline-4 so what do you expect.

I have two CB1100s a 2013 std and a 2014 Dlx.

Negatives:
I wish it was a bit lighter or I was a bit younger!
I wish I had more time to ride.

So no negatives for me.

Love them both.

RE: '17 CB1100
3 years with my '13 non-abs model. Was delighted with it when I first got it, but now, 33,000 miles later, I'm even happier with it. I found it to be extremely reliable and remarkably versatile. I do Christmas shopping on it, ride it on multi-day trips, zip through the mountain roads nearby and have done a few track days with it (then peeled the tape off, reattached the mirrors, and rode it 100+ miles home!) Very versatile.

Negatives:

1. I think they coulda put their proven hydraulic valve system in this bike, given it's under 9K rpm limit. Less maintenance. That said, I've checked the valves twice (myself) and they've never needed adjustment.
2. Some coatings could be more durable. I live near the coast and some forward facing bits on the bike show early stages of corrosion. Nothing major, just wish it wasn't so.
3. Is possibly *too* awesome? Maybe.

Like you, I had been off bikes for many years for your exact reasons.

Good luck!

It's called JDM seat. http://www.honda.co.jp/CB1100/

The Japanese CB1100 has 765mm seat height.
You can get an EX model in Japan which comes with raised 785mm seat height. (same as American spec)
But the standard one come with 765mm which is 20mm lower than American spec. (20mm=approx 0.8 inch)
İmage

RE: '17 CB1100
Welcome back brother. Like you I was off a motorcycle for some years. I bought a couple of bikes before I got the CB 1100 and I'm glad I worked my way up to it. In my view, you will not find a better motorcycle than this bike. I've been thrilled with it and enjoy every moment I'm on it. One negative, Winters get pretty cold in Jersey and therefore I can only ride once a week in the dead of winter. In other words no complaints!

That's an attractive bike in the photo, Timpo. Great subtle color combo.
