An errand I needed to run left me on the other side of the Brisbane River. It was a glorious winter afternoon, sunny and warm, so I left the primordial sludge of the city traffic and rode into the oasis of the Mt Coot-tha reserve where a pleasant road winds its way through bushland and around the mountain. The reserve is disturbed only by picnic areas and the transmission towers of the television stations and the only traffic I saw was a lone cyclist.

For a man I never knew who was one of the global riding fellowship. Vale John.
