Flynryder is correct and I believe you can find a link in the history section to the bike with ads

George you did not list the 2017 USA model in your list.

RE: A Note on CB1100 Model Numbers and VINs
First, thanks Flynrider and Ferret. I have no information on Asian model designations/numbers except for China. Taking into account my non-existent language skills, I'm not sure whether, even if I did find them, I'd understand!

Michael, I didn't list the US models because I couldn't find any information on them at the time I wrote. However, your question prompted me to go-a-hunting again and, after a time I found my way to the US Department of Transport. There I found a list of Honda US motorcycle VIN ranges from 1989 to 2015. If you're interested, see here.

But it didn't help me with the 2017 models.

After a while I found my way to a VIN decoder on the DOT site— see here. Taking on board the information I thought I had, I invented some valid VINs for the 2017 model and played around with them. I kept getting errors using the SC78 Honda model designation I've seen elsewhere. So I tried again using the SC65 designation and BINGO!

Honda has registered VINS for two CB1100 models in 2017:
  1. SC651—designated as the CB1100CA. It has ABS as standard; is 1140 ccs; and develops an engine BHP of 88.
  2. SC658—designated as the CB1100NA. It shares the same specs as the SC651.

More than that I can't tell you. But, if you want to see what I've seen about the CB1100CA, go the DOT VIN decoder site and enter "JH2SC651 HK000001" without the quotation marks. You don't need the model year as the 'H' in the VIN gives it that. If you then click on 'Show all Vehicle Details' you can scroll through the pages.

Repeating the process with "JH2SC658 HK000001", again without the quotation marks, will give you the recorded information on the CB1100NA.

Can't say for sure, but I'm betting the CB1100CA is the EX model and the CB1100NA the RS, even if Honda chooses not to take it to the US.

I'll also go back and amend the first post in this section to reflect what I now know. I'll also include links to the information Honda recorded with DOT when it registered the VINs for all US models.

A footnote: I was surprised to see that the 2017 bikes develop 0.5 BHP less than the 2013 and 2014 models.

Thanks, Ridem.

Here's the DOT file on the 2017 CB1100NAH. It's referred to in post #1 of this thread.

In that document, the Model is listed as CB1100NA. I'm not sure where the "H" came from. EDIT: H is year of manufacture, right?

Also, the california ARB (air resources board) tested the emissions of two 2017 CB1100 models: CB1100CA and CB1100NA.

Forum member QimmiQ from Canada has the special edition 2016 CB1100. He reports here that his model number is SC657.
