Spirited ride with a random KTM
Near my house we have a great spot called Ridge Road. It runs along the edge of the escarpment with some good twists and great views of Hamilton, Niagara, Lake Ontario etc...

I was cruising down this road when I pass a KTM on my right hand side turning right onto my road. It isn't long until he is right on my tail. I wait for a safe place to pass the work truck and he passes right with me.

The road varies between 60km/hr and 80 in spots. There are also a few 4 way stops. He was riding the 690 Duke. Flat out I could lose him no problem, but every time we came to a curvy spot, I felt like I was holding him back. And I guess so, he's riding a 327 lbs dry bike with 73 HP!

Always fun to have another rider to play with. That KTM is a dandy. MY nephew had one.

RE: Spirited ride with a random KTM
Your encounter reminded me of being passed by a guy on a Ducati Multistrada on US129 a few miles north of Deal's Gap. My progress up the mountain had been slowed by a couple on a cruiser who had just pulled into a turn-off and I was too focused on the road ahead to see him come up behind me. I did not pull to the right to allow him to pass on our side of the yellow. I managed to keep some sort of pace with him for the remainder of the ride to Deal's Gap Resort and we had a nice conversation about bikes and riding (which included an apology from me for not seeing him) before heading our separate ways. Encounters like these are fairly rare in four wheeled vehicles. Part of the reason that I love riding the two wheeled ones. Smile

I was hoping he'd follow me down the mountain and we could have had an exchange at a stop light, but he stayed up top and went south.
