A buss at 2500 to 3000 RPM would be annoying. No matter what speed I am at, this loafer always seems to be between 2500 and 3000 RPM. I am going to have to start exploring the other two thirds of the rev range.

Yes, the engine feels a lot more loose (in a good way), in the 5000rpm area, but as you imply, one doesn't generally drive there most of the time. Other riders may operate at a higher rev point more often, I don't know.

Cvkev, we have a couple of threads on this with pics. One in the help section I think.

A number of us had buzzing. Turned out to be connectors vibrating in the headlight shell. They were vibrating against the shell and/or the part that holds the bulb. Not sure how the new LED is, but I'd look there first.

I wrapped my connectors with some thin foam and no buzzing since.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Carbs had overlap between pilot jet and main jet to make throttle transitions smooth. Fuel injection does not have that. If you chop the throttle either on or off it will feel jerky and will make drive line lash feel excessive. You must train yourself to gently roll the throttle on and off, (and generally not 100% off but like 90% off on shifts) if you want to be smooth with fuel injected motorcycles.

Thanks bud, I look forward to opening up the unit when I get the time.
Thumbs Up

Excellent, thank you, I'll try the 90% rule Thumbs Up
I did consider that the bike might get a little smoother after run in further and the first service is complete, but I'm sure 90% of the issue is me Rolleyes

When ever I watched videos of CB1100 test rides, I noticed the tachometer seldom read above 3,000 RPM. I though the riders were just treating a new borrowed bike with respect because it was just being broken in and they didn't own it.

Now that I own one, it always appears to be between the 2500 and 3000 RPM range no matter what speed I am doing. I am not a knee dragger, but I don't dawdle either. I enjoy a spirited ride on the quiet and remote twisty back roads that I ride. Mind you, I am not looking at the tachometer in those turns.

I guess this why the test riders keep saying this is such an easy motorcycle to ride.

OK, I also just purchased a new 2017 EX last week and I have a funny question.. When I look at the two circular horn locations under the headlight, one of them looks just like the pictures on the Honda website new CB1100 photos, but the other one has an orange colored ring around the center shiny silver center-horn "button" instead of the other shiny silver ring. Is this normal? I thought that maybe the set-up crew where I bought the brand new bike might have set up one of the horn designs backward or something. Maybe it's a strange error-piece from the factory. It's truly not a big deal, it's just something that's not symmetrical and something of a one-of-a-kind goofs.

I may be wrong on this but I'd imagine they should both look exactly the same. Next tie I'm with my bike I'll check how mine are. I don't know how easy it is to disconnect the horns but if they are just plug connectors I'd check each horn works individually...
Oh, and congratulations on the new bike!

Is it the clear mylar protector that comes on horns and has to be removed?
