Thanks guys. I am really sure that the two round horn ring displays should look exactly the same, but they don't. When I return to the dealership for the 600 mile service I will point out the discrepancy and see if it can be corrected (like a mylar protector) and I'll update you all when I do.
This is the problem. There is no protective plastic cover or anything else that makes any sense. It looks like some sort of manufacturing issue. What the heck should I do about it?

Are you sure there are no clear mylar covers on the front of that horn? Rub your finger or finger nail over the edge of it where the black meets the chrome.

I promise all of you that there is no residual cover of any kind. I have looked closely with a magnifying glass and I have used my fingers and fingernails to try to detect anything over the horn. I don't like it and except for replacing the horn unit I can't imagine what can be done. I expect resistance from the dealer.
