RE: 2018 Forum Rally Poll
I've been in northern South Carolina past few days and am amazed at the great riding available here. We took the car and made a tour of Revolutionary War battlefields. Hwy 11 would be a great starting point as it runs near the southern side of the Blue Ridge with many fine roads into the mountains. May be worth considering for the Forum Rally.

RE: 2018 Forum Rally Poll
Two summers ago I rode OR to Illinois on the CB1100. Took me 5 nights, 6 days of riding, but I took a few scenic routes along the way. A week with family to "visit" (recover), then another week back. Awesome trip, but it makes me think if we want to make rallys practical, they've got to be close enough to home to have a realistic shot at drawing more riders. A NE rally, a mid to south Atlantic (Virginia), a "mid-north" (WI) rally, mid-south (TX), a Rockies rally (CO), a NW (WA/OR/ID) one, and a SW (CA/AZ/NV) one. Guys from those general areas should do the logistical planning if they like rallies and want to make them happen. It would even be a stretch for me to ride two days to do a rally of 2-3 days, then ride two days home.

But 1 day there, 2 day rally, 1 day home, that would draw me in more readily.

RE: 2018 Forum Rally Poll
Well yea that's the problem with having an official forum rally. IN order to Have it where the most members can attend you have to have it in the appalachian states somewhere southern, Kentucky, Tennessee, Va, W Va, North Carolina. Any further north and the southern guys won't come, any further south and the northern guys won't come and any further west and the east coast guys won't come. When you look at the membership map and try and select a central location by population of members it pretty much points to W VA/ N Carolina. The votes on this poll still show W Va leading and South central Ky second. There are and I know good roads in both of those areas. I think W Va is the best riding. No matter where or when there is still no guarantee that people can make it due to work, family needs, weather or cost to attend.

The first rally in North Carolina I think we had about 25 members. In Va I think we had 17 or 18. In Arkansas I think we had 5 or 6. Arkansas ended up being too far west for the eastern and souther boys, and ironically too far east for the western boys. THey were all great rallies in wonderful riding areas.

That would be funny.. a rally in Hawaii, every one shows up with a bathing suit and no bike.

So, what makes a rally an 'official Forum Rally'?

I'm gonna say t-shirt that has "official CB1100 rally 2018" on either the front or back.

I could be coaxed into spearheading an "OFFICIAL 2018 CB1100 NW Rally". I'd suggest eastern OR, maybe John Day area, or Hell's Canyon. Right after Labor Day, kids are back in school, most folks are finished camping for the summer. I think the target audience would be OR, WA, ID, N.CA, N.NV, NW UT (Salt Lake), maybe even W. MT.

Funny, if you roughly super-impose that area over the mid to eastern states you get Chicago to the FL panhandle and E. OK to the coast of NC.

So, abiding by my own suggestion of "1 day ride to--2 day rally--1 day home" more realistically: OR, E.WA, W.ID and N.NV.

Not that we would exlude anyone...except all those hailing from Hawaii, they can have their pretty little islands. : )

Well that is a good point Cormanus. I dunno.

If you run a poll on the forum and the majority of respondants says they want the 2018 rally to be at X place, and we plan to have it at X place, does that makes it an " offical forum rally" ?

Again, I dunno.

Multiple " official forum rallys" are fine with me. If they are within reasonable riding distance, I will probably be there.

I agree.
I could do more than one rally per year.
As long as it is between May 25th to Aug 1st and within two or three hundred miles I can be there.

The “where” is much less important than the “who” at this juncture. Someone needs to get this party, or these parties started.
