Class, we have a new student!
Michael lives in Seattle. He just bought his brand new 2014 Honda CB1100 yesterday. He wanted it in BLACK, and whatayaknow... BLACK!
He also says it's now RAINING like is always does in this SH**Hole place, and the machine mentioned above is NOT going to get wet! NO NO NO!
That's why he gets around 75 to 150 miles annually on his bikes.
(Yes, this is Seattle humor. But seriously, it blows here, really.)
AND..... about 2.5 years away from a S. CAL desert retirement. See ya Later, Seattle!

RE: Class, we have a new student!
G'day Michael and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on snagging one of the remaining 2014 CB1100s.
Would it be offensive to suggest buying some rainwear and not being a woos?

Ha Ha, Michael is a wus, Michael is a wus!
I am too really. I hate riding in the rain. Or the cold. But you ride a motorcycle and sooner or later you get wet, or cold, or both
Welcome Michael!

You plan to retire to southern Cal? I hope that you drive something OLD...it's going to be expensive to register anything starting next year (like it's not already crazy expensive enough to register a vehicle here).

I was just in Seattle last week. I love your city, despite the rain. Congrats on the new CB1100. Enjoy it and enjoy the forum!

RE: Class, we have a new student!
Welcome, I've managed to put 33K miles my CB1100 in the last couple years in the Seattle weather. It made commuting into Seattle a lot easier and cheaper to park. But now that I'm done with school, I find myself not riding in cold weather as much.

Portland here. I got rid of my car 5 years ago, so if I go anywhere it's on two wheels. I put on several thousand miles per year as my job has me running between Portland and Seattle a lot. Just ride! Wipe your bike down with a rag when you get back and no sudden movements (wider corners, careful on the painted parts of the road as they are slippery when wet) and you're fine!
I'd highly suggest getting a set of Michelin Pilot 4 tires, though (had them on my CBr and my GSXr). The stock tires on my 2014 are worthless in the rain. X-/

Nekura, not sure you can get PR4s for the CB1100. The wheel size limits options a good deal.

Dangit, I looked up 18', but didn't put in the rest of the specs and that does look like a no.
Hopefully Pirelli has something. X-/
