RE: 2014 CB1100
Weight reduction: exhaust like the Yosh 4 into 1 much lighter - fenders, plastic instead of steel - wheels for those who really have some $$ -
Even More performance: air cleaner for more air to go with the exhaust - "One can use a Power Commander 5 to do all tuning and mapping without reflashing the ECU BUT you will still have the top speed limiter. It doesn't take hours of dyno time, more like an hour tops." - quote from the forum
- Or just reflash the ECU.
- Of course the bike is engineered to just doddle along and enjoy the scenery.

Welcome to the forum.

For weight reduction, I recommend reducing your Carb intake and engage in a regular fitness program. LOL ALMOST just kidding-- Almost, because for me, losing 10 lbs off the rider is easier and less expensive than losing 10 lbs off the bike.

Nekura,

I did the motorcycle only routine when I was in my late teens living in Miami. Only issue was the rain storms that would roll thru so it was pretty much keep a set of dry clothes in a plastic bag just in case. Last year I took a chance an rode my CTX1300 to work, on the ride home I got caught in a nasty one. Was sitting in stop and go traffic a mile from the house with a massive lightning display above my head. Yes I was thinking I was insane for being there but I took the chance being so close to the house. If the forecast is 50% or above I'll take the Jeep from now on.......

Welcome Nekura, I'm in Portland area too and ride year round as well. It's really not that bad when it rains. Oh, but I ride the KLR650 in the rain, the CB1100 when it's dry!

A commuter here was killed when he was struck by lightning sitting in traffic a few years ago. Be careful.

You may find an electric vest to be a worthwhile purchase. They only cost about $100 and will extend what you consider comfortable riding weather.

Ride more. Worry less. Tongue

Dude, thanks for the tip. It always seems I can find 'cold weather' OR 'rain glove'. Never both. X-/

How loud is the Yoshi on the CB1100? I kinda like keeping it a little quiet as I'm in a quiet neighborhood and my neighbors all hate the Harley-constant-revving-guy across the street. I have a two bros exhaust on my 750 gixxer, (which is a bit louder than my Honda that is for sure) but usually the Yoshis are pretty loud.

I might give the PC5 a shot. I've been told that rev limiter neutered the CB's potential, so I'd love to work around it. I don't need massive power gains, just a little bit more 'oomph' in the upper gears.

Dude, I ever get struck by lightning; I'm spending every dollar I have left on th lottery!

I might have to do something similar. The tires I have on my gixxer hold really well, but I run between Portland and Seattle a bunch (and 20 was 20 years ago, so my body doesn't really love distance sportbike travel).

I could stand to lose 10 pounds, honestly. I'm a regional employee, so I live on the road. Not always the healthiest of lifestyles. X-/

Dang, those are cool. I tried throwing my buddy's Klim mitts over the top of my regular gloves and I got way too much slop on the palm. Just installed heated grips (helps a lot), and am considering other heated gear. I'm not 20 anymore and all the crazy stuff I've done doesn't feel super great in the damp/cold. X-/
