Fork spring changeout question
I am about to order a set of Icon shocks (7610-1507) for my 2014 CB1100. As I'd also like to make the forks more compliant over bumps, I may consider an interim solution ..... a set of progressively wound springs, amd playing with fork oil wt and level, before resorting to the Traxxion Dynamics solution (Race Tech emulators, new springs, new damper rods.) The T Dynamics solution requires dismantling the forks, and if the progressive springs would cure the problem, it'd be a much simpler solution.

Questions:
a. has anyone here replaced their stock fork springs with progressively wound springs? If so
- what brand?
- what model?
- what weight springs?
- what's your weight?
- results?

One more question. In looking at the top of my fork, it looks like the fork springs could possibly be replaced with the forks still on the bike. Even the handle bar appears to be out of the way. Of course, the front of the bike would have to be supported (a jack under front of sump)

Thanks,

Bob

RE: Fork spring changeout question
I'm thinking of improving the front forks compliance.

I'm also wanting to switch my black lower tubes to silver.

The cheap way would be to strip the black and paint silver.

The new 'dual bending valve' forks off the 2017 standard model might solve both problems at once for me- I just need to look at more pictures to be sure they would swap over.

104whp / 75wtq ... for now.

RE: Fork spring changeout question
I rebuilt the suspension nf my ST1100 with the Traxxion Dynamics emulators about 40K miles ago and have never regretted the decision. I chose to supply the shop with my riding parameters, loaded weight of the bike, and had them install the cartridges. I saved a bit of money by pulling and replacing the fork legs myself. It also gave me the chance to install roller bearings in the steering head.

The rear improvement was limited to a Progressive shock, or a Penske. I chose the Penske.

I haven't (yet) been on the CB1100, So I can't comment on what to expect the improvement to be. I can say that the two bikes I have modified, have both improved handling quite noticeably. (ST1100 and K100rt)

Jim, did you ship your forks to Traxxion Dynamics? Or was there a shop in Minnesota that was associated with them? I'd rather supply them my forks, and have them do the kit install, as you did.
