cb1100 sold in Canada model comparisons
Could someone familiar with different variants of cb1100 please outline the differences between what Honda was selling in 2016 in Canada (CB1100A), as can be seen, for instance here:
http://www.rockyhonda.com/default.asp?pa...dInventory

and 2018 CB1100EX that is/will be sold in Canada, as seen here:
http://motorcycle.honda.ca/model/naked/cb1100a

(ignoring the obvious appearance differences).
TIA

RE: cb1100 sold in Canada model comparisons
I don't think there is much. The engine and handling will be near identical. The stock exhaust on the 2017 sounds way better IMO, and the tank holds more gas. The 2017 has LED lights which I imagine would make seeing at night a little easier.
There is a little more chrome on the 2017, the gauges are chrome backed stock and the horns have a nicer chrome cover and a bracket that looks sharp. The gauges and computer look really nice compared to my 2013, but I love the green backs on the gauges on my 2013 even if the display looks a little Casio compared to 2014 and newer. The 2017 has a metal chain guard instead of plastic, and the pipes are chromed so I don't think they'll petina like the earlier models. Spoke wheels vs mags. All considered I'd get the 2017 unless the deal was too good to pass up, but for $1000 difference, id have the 2017. I think 2018 was a type-o no?

The most detailed description of the changes to the new 2017 CB1100 EX can be found here on Kevin's Blog.

correct. (misled as I'm also looking at CB650F, which will be in Canada as 2018. Its specs are tempting, unfortunately it is ugly beyond words...)

Look in the history section and see the thread on 2017 ex. I think I listed about 28 changes between 2017 and 2016.

I'd like to see a 13/14 and a 17 ran back to back on a dyno- pulling from 1.5k to redline. Between the apparently less restrictive airbox snorkel, mufflers, and any ecu changes- I'd bet there is a real world difference in power output.

In fact- I read somewhere in a Honda article where they retuned the 2014 ecu compared to the 13 because of the 6th gear. I've never seen anyone on here talk about it before.

We aren't talking monumental differences in either case- but I bet measurable.

As for handling- the rear shocks definitely have a different part number on the 17 although no word on what the changes are- could be valving, could be spring rate. The forks are also different as already known.

This aspect is quite intriguing as the sound is indeed from the exhaust changes themselves apparently. Will be interesting to see what happens if anyone ever switches to an aftermarket exhaust, or someone with an eye on Ebay ever backdates a 2017 exhaust onto a 13/14....

104whp / 75wtq ... for now.

RE: cb1100 sold in Canada model comparisons
I have not ridden another CB1100 for comparison, but my CB1100 EX spends most of her time between 2500 and 3000 RPMs no matter what the speed. However pass the 4000 RPM mark and all of a sudden she perks right up. She's no FZ-09, I did ride one for day, but strong enough to make passing quick and easy.

As she spends most of her loafing along, I assume this motorcycle will last a LONG time.

Same here!
I'm amazed at the low RPM's.

Still rockin', rollin', and ridin' after all these years

If you find the 2016 canadian model with the checker board stripes - they are actually 2016 special editions - 200 units supposed to be Japan only - the story is Canada had no allocation but dealers taking deposits - near end of the season they had to ship something - either 13 or 16 came to canada because that was all they had to ship - look up on youtube 2016 cb1100SE - tokyo motorcycle show - I know my 2016 was ordered by another fellow in march last year - deposit taken - bike didn't show up until september - he had moved on - I swooped in right away.
