Horsepower Hill is the stretch of County Road 126 a few miles north of Deckers that gains elevation to the crest overlooking Devil's Head. It climbs for several miles and has two uphill lanes, which is fortunate because some vehicles struggle going up. It's a piece of cake on the CB's.
We ran it both ways. We rode down Horsepower Hill on Thursday on our way to Woodland Park and Pike's Peak, and then we rode up Horsepower Hill on Saturday on our way to Buffalo Creek and the Platte River.
This video was taken in 2010. The road surface is now in much better shape. The rider is traveling northbound. Horsepower Hill is the stretch of road where he comes to a bunch of road workers who have traffic cones blocking the two right lanes. It doesn't look like it in the video, but it's a long, steep climb to the crest from there.
