Turn Signal Issue
Hi guys I've got a 2013 CB1100. Battery seems okay, bulbs are all correct.

Only the right turn signal is working. The left turn signal and hazards do not flash. instead hitting the left turn signal or the hazard induces a buzzing sound around the rear fender. I've done the tests according to the manual for the flasher relay and get no voltage doing Signal Line Inspection 1.

Thinking to replace the flasher relay, what's a place to buy for a good price?

RE: Turn Signal Issue
I'll have to take a look at the manual, but even before reading his post I thought the flasher module is the most likely problem.

Parm, Have you done any electrical modifications or tapped into the signal wires? Or is it all stock?

Best place to buy a new one? Well, partsfish.com is good, partszilla.com and http://www.hondapartshouse.com/oemparts/...ycle/parts are good too. There are others.

I'm going to look at the wiring diagram some more, but a quick glance and a look at the test you are failing does not yet indicate a flasher relay.

When doing the test, reading the orange and light blue for voltage, the other 4P connector must be plugged into the flasher or NO voltage will be read at the orange and light blue wire pins. Why? Well, because 12v is input to the flasher on the R/G wire and output to the turn signal switch on the gray wire.

The test has you checking for 12v input to the flasher when you select left or right turn. Based on the left signals not working, I would expect you to see voltage on the Light Blue to ground(right signals), and no voltage on the orange to ground (left signals). You do have to select the left or right signal using the switch as explained in the test to read the voltage.

The test is checking the wiring to make sure you are getting the voltage to the flasher. I wouldn't order one just yet.

Although this seems a little counter-intuitive, check the STOP/HORN fuse as directed in the stystem inspection, or heck, just blow the horn. I think it will be good though.

I'm not at work today and its raining so I really have nothing better to do than try to help you narrow this down. Let me know your findings.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Parm, I'm sorry but I've edited your post. Pictures of workshop manual pages breach the forum's copyright policy.

Good luck sorting your problem. If popgun can't help you, it's probably not fixable.

RE: Turn Signal Issue
Thanks Cormanus! It is fixable Smile and will probably turn out to be the relay. But you never know, thus the testing. If it were here we could do the testing quicker that you can type the instructions.

I wonder what was buzzing by the fender. There really isn't anything back there except wiring. Unless he has a chaffed wire arcing. Hummm. Well, we'll see what he says.

Thanks popgun. The PO had replaced the rear fender for a shorter one, it seems at this time the wiring got crushed. The wire to the left turn signal was grounding at the fender. Turn signals are functioning normally now so this seems to be the culprit.

İmage
