In the 80s when we vacationed in Florida near Fort Lauderdale we found the drivers to be bad.

On the freeway everybody speeded. If you left a space between you and the car in front of you, the cars on either side of you would both try to fill it.

At a gas station I had just finished pumping and got into my car. As there was a car in front of me I waited. The lady behind me laid on the horn. I looked back at her and pointed to the car in front of me. She continued honking. I motioned to her to back up so I could move out. She refused and continued honking until the car in front of me and I left.

Back then if you made a turn off Federal onto Commercial there was a railway track half a block away and a red light just beyond that. There are no warning signals or gates at the tracks. As nobody in southern Florida ever leaves a space in traffic, one day the train hit a fuel truck parked on the tracks. The explosion and fire killed a number of people.

The railway put up signs on the charred posts at the side of the road not to stop on the tracks. Despite the deaths, signs and charred posts people still parked on the tracks.

The opposite of the impatient drivers are the elderly in their huge cars: Cadillacs, Lincolns, etc. On a quiet side street in Deerfield Beach I watched as a little old lady dawdled along and bumped into a little old man as he waited at a stop light. Both got out of their big expensive cars, looked at them, had a pleasant chat, and drove away.

Yes its essentially exactly as you described it lol. hasnt changed a bit.

I got the 16 tooth sprocket in, just waiting on the tires. I wanted to see if anyone had the torque specs on the output shaft sprocket for a 2014?

I found my original request for torque specs:

thanks yall!

Own a 2017 EX
Want to try a 16/42 set up which should give me close to 12% ~ 15% ratio change.
Plus I want to keep the original 530 chain.
Note: I barely use the 6th gear during my rides (now 13,000 Kms).

Just ordered a 42 Tooth rear sprocket (JTR #302.42).
Anyone has the front sprocket number for a 16T or 17T? (2017 EX)
Much obliged.
Alain

2002-2013 VFR800 uses a 16-tooth that will fit - P/N 23801-MCW-D00.
All CBR1000XX Blackbirds use a 17-tooth that will fit - P/N 23801-MAT-760.
Factory sprockets have rubber dampeners on the sides for quietening.
.
Or you can order a JT sprocket, JTF339RB-16 or JTB339RB-17 with rubber dampeners, JTF339-16 and JTF339-17 without the dampeners.

Good luck!

I have the 16 on the front and still using the 43 on the back. Feels about 6% difference from the 17 on the front, which is about what it should be. I also installed my more upright bars (from the clipons i had on there) and have been enjoying the more upright seating position, but i have noticed that the front end does want to come up a bit more with the 16/43 setup, as expected. Nothing crazy or hard to deal with.

This is the 16 i used: JT Sprockets JTF339.16 16T Steel Front Sprocket
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GT...UTF8&psc=1

I had the 17 on there for about 15,000 miles and it looked essentially brand new when i took it off. Chain and rear sprockets looking good still at mid 17xxx miles. Overall Id say the 16/43 setup is just fine for the 2014s.

What a difference with the 42T modification!
You can feel lots of power on demand and the rpm is always above 3K.
First time ever, I was able to use the 6th gear and still feel the torque.
Very peppy bike when riding in town.

Only disappointment is the handle bar vibration felt at these higher revs.
Both hands felt numb after riding for half an hour.

I will wait a while before getting the front 16T.
