New 2014 CB1100 Standard - West Hills (L.A.), CA
This forum rocks. It made my decision to purchase a new 2014 standard model easy. All I had to do then was sit on it in the showroom, fire it up, and sign the paperwork.

I started riding enduro and street motorcycles in the 70's and 80's. The last bike I owned was an 80's Kawi KZ LTD. I recently started looking around for an in-line four, 70's or early 80's CB, Kawi Z or KZ, to restore and ride. But I came across new old stock 2014 CB1100 deals advertised on Cycle Trader, and purchased one new in August 2017 with one mile on the clock. I am still looking for an older in-line four, but the CB1100 will get me on the road again sooner, safer, and with no headaches.

I have been buying add-ons and gear recommended on the forum, and reading many other posts. I'm impressed with the miles being ridden by forum members on this motorcycle. I bought it originally thinking it would only be suitable for short trips. And so much more info is available on motorcycles now than when I was last riding in the late 80's. Buying a new 3-year old bike with all of the posts on this forum is an incredible asset.

The bike is beautiful...a real piece of art and craftsmanship. I never thought I would like so much black on a bike. So I bought an all-white helmet instead, to possibly be visible at night. Right now the bike is under a nice cover, on the battery tender, and tucked into a cozy spot in my garage...but still with only 1 mile on the clock. I just finished getting all of my protective gear. I'm very lucky to have a Cycle Gear store 2 miles from my home, and several other decent shops within a 10 minute drive/ride. I bought the bike from a dealer 35 miles away and had it delivered. I don't even know yet which Honda dealer/service shop is near me, or is reputable.

I am looking forward to putting mile number 2 and up on the clock as soon as the heat dies down here in Southern California. Ventura County, Malibu, Mulholland Drive, and the San Gabriel Mountains are my first rides. I plan on using the bike for business trips as well, to check on properties in my real estate business (and fit in a burger), for a nice occasional break.

Since about 90% of the people that I tell I'm getting back on a bike again think I'm nuts, I know I'll have a "home away from home" here on the forum with other motorcycle enthusiasts, regardless of my future posting frequency.

Regards,
Mike

Welcome , the CB is a unique bike! I always find myself grinning when riding. I also enjoy firing up the cb750 too. It's all stock and the year is '74. By luck, I just live over a mile from our forum founder, guth. A great guy who shares the passion for the Honda we ride.

Welcome and congrats Mike!

You be careful on Mullholand! Don't want to see you sliding on that curve where the camera guy takes pics!!

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Welcome, Mike! Have fun and ride safe. I can relate to the return to motorcycling reactions, having experienced rolled eyes, impassioned entreaties and fingers in the ears "lalalala I can't hear you!". Or maybe that last one was me!
You are correct in thinking you have a compassionate ear on this forum. Hope you aren't having to sneak down to the computer in the basement at 2 am! I know you are excited, but get some sleep man! Tongue

Ben

Mate! Welcome to the CB1100 and the forum. Thanks for the kind words.

You're not mad. But, for heaven's sake, get out and ride the bike! It's been waiting 3 years for it.
