That is an awesome addition man. Clearly isn't doing much for the bike but my comfortability trumps any kind of aesthetic flaws. Wish there was a way to pick that up before the trip : /

I suggest making any drastic decisions until after the trip. See how it does for you then decide. You can ride mine and see if the lower shield is better or worse.

A more upright angle with the face of the shield parallel to the forks has helped for some to reduce buffeting, and possibly some wind noise.

Others have taken the dramatic step of cutting down their shields to make them quieter.

I took a different approach that has worked for me...I added the MRA X-creen Tour (Clamp on version) to my EX.
I realize this is not everyone's cup of tea, but it eliminated any buffeting, and reduced the noise considerably.
It also creates a "laminar" flow of air up and over my helmet. At 6'1" the top is still at about chin level, but I get next to no bugs on my face shield now.

I tried adding a Laminar Lip (less cost than the MRA) and it made the buffeting and noise even worse. I really thought the extra height would solve the problem, but was very disappointed. Moved the lip down it to two different heights, one at screen height and about an inch below the screen, neither improved it. I moved the EX up, down, and different angles, nothing worked. I finally cut the EX down and still had wind noise, plus more wind. I've given up on the EX.
