Okay I have it on the bike. Haven't rode it yet with the street shield ex on the bike but it is on the bike.

How do you know if you have it straight and squared up on the bike? I think I have it but then again maybe I am leaning when looking at it as it looks off a little to me.

Put on center stand and eyeball it from multiple angles. It's almost impossible to get perfectly symmetrical, and it will warp a tad as you tighten the adjustment screws.

I look in two places..equidistant space in ring around headlight, and the upper shield edge as I'm sitting on it. If they look good I'm good.

As you are riding down the road, bring your hand up close to and behind the shield as if signaling stop. As you bring your hand up over the edge you will feel the wind hit it. Start bringing your hand back toward you keeping you hand in the wind pressure until it gets to your chest or head and you will be able to tell exactly where the wind is hitting you the strongest.

I have a concern when mounting my NC Deflector Shield. I took it off my 13 to keep and use on my 14. It has a different mount than what is listed...see the picture below. The problem is...the mounting (where it hits the handlebar) left a mark, almost like a dent, on the handlebar of my 13.
I don't want that to happen to my 14. Ferret, you made a comment in another thread about some 3m (clear tape??) that you'll add down the road to protect the paint from your tank bag. That sounds exactly like what I need. I went to an auto parts store today....they didn't know what I was talking about. What exactly is it...and where do you get it? Thanks guys...

Get it at a sign shop...one that makes signs, but it is really, really thin and would not stop a dent from tightening. clear box sealing tape would do the same thing only it would probably leave a tape residue on the bars.

Hey Ferret,

Now I see what you meant about the short arm on the standard Deflector. It looks like Ride4now is right at the limit. The DX has a lot more room for adustment.

I finally got the take my bike out for a short ride after installing a street shield ex. The buffeting at my helmet it intense. I can't hear my Staintune anymore. I've gotta try a few more angles. Hopefully I can find a sweet spot without needing to cutt it down.

For reference, I'm 6' with a K&H High seat.

I too am going to try riding without cutting it just yet. I ran out of the mystery olive oil so my cutting the windscreen down can't happen until I get some more. Wink

Unfortunately winter is back though so now I wait for next spring before I find out what angle to set it at.... :/

RE: NC street shield ex mounting
Okay a little help here folks. Took for a spin today the shield unmodified.

I have the angle pretty much with the forks angle. Got up to 50 today no helmet on testing where it hits me and let me just say I couldn't read the gauges from the turbulence. My head was in such dirty air it was tough, so much so no shield is way better. But I must say it was nice nothing hitting me in the chest for the most part.

Question, without cutting anything, would I find smoother air with it tilted back more or stood more upright?

I have a two hour ride tomorrow and this shield might have to come off before or during the ride...
