RE: NC street shield ex mounting
Actually I found the mounting to be a piece of cake. Popping the rods in takes a little spit and they pop in and have not had them pop out.

The angle, follow the fork angle and your golden. The height though will pose issues possibly with buffeting until you cut it down like cip57 has done or play with lowers to see if the buffeting is possibly from under the shield.

Mounting though was a piece of cake... Especially following the thread here in the forum with the pictures of how others did it..

I used some hand soap on the ball end of the rods and tapped them gently with a rubber hammer. Once I figured out how to mount the lower rods (nah, I didn't bother to read the directions) I could adjust to my hearts content. I did notice that if the shield is touching the speedo and tach, I picked up an annoying buzz so I moved the shield forward to leave a space between speedo and windshield. Should be fine but will test it on Saturday, weather permitting.I like to wear half helmets in the summer but with the buffeting I may be relegated to a full face helmet or just tough it out.

Thanks to the tips here I got mine installed today. It's bigger than I expected. How is it quick release though? Awful lot of hardware and rods would be sticking out if you unsnap the windshield...

You don't unsnap the windshield at the ball-and-socket connection points to the plexiglass! I doubt that you would ever be able to snap them all back together (at least not without great difficulty).

You unscrew and remove the large knobs on the handlebar clamps and just loosen the small knobs/levers on the fork tube clamp. Then remove the entire shield with all four arms still attached to the shield. The upper arms should be removed along with lower part of the telescopic base (don't loosen the telescopic adjustment nuts) and the lower arms simply pull out from the fork tube clamps. Only the clamps around the handle bars and the clamps around the fork tubes are left on the bike, which look relatively "clean".
The following thread shows what you leave on the bike after removing the shield: http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....=nc+street

I wouldn't really call it a true "quick release" system, but once you have done it a few times it becomes faster and easier. You will still have to do some minor adjustment every time you reinstall it.

NC street shield ex mounting
İmageİmage

You guys think I'd be able to mount the Street Shield on this cb500f handlebar? Getting really desperate here for something that would work for my bike as my Plexistar 2 is unable to work with my new setup and the rally's fast approaching.

They are supposed to be universal fit so I would think you should be able to get it mounted. Might have to mess around a little bit, but heck I had to do that with mine anyway.

RE: NC street shield ex mounting
Pop: The pics I posted is the quick release setup that came with my plexistar. Looks like the Street Shield comes with that setup too. However, I think it'll be virtually impossible to have those mounts setup in any other way as there is just no room for any other configuration. Looking at the way the uprights are in the photo, I was hoping that the SS could accommodate that particular angle.

I'm going either today or tomorrow to NC (they are based right outside of Chicago) and will hopefully have an answer by today.

Sidenote: I've heard comparisons between the Deflector or the Street Shield being better at wind reduction. Seeing that a lot of guys have cut down the Street Shield on this forum has made me wonder if "taller" is better. I am 6'1", so would my "sweet spot" for clean air and less turbulence fair better with a Deflector or SS?

This thread might help: http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....eet+shield

And this one is interesting: http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....eet+shield

This one is in the How-To section for mounting an EX. http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1165 Has pics so you can see if it would work for you. Mine is mounted like in the How to.

Or try searching on Street Shield

I use the EX in cooler weather, but am mostly on surface streets. Now, I have the Road Comet on. Usually if I'm going to be on the open road I ride my ST1300 and it has a fairing and adjustable windshield. I'm not really much help, but this subject has been discussed a lot on here.
