Hi camoto - very tasteful modification to your side covers - I've been pondering for 4 years how to modify them with holes or slots - this guy did it with paint.

That's very slick! I love the colors you chose! I considered paint too but couldn't decide on colors so I tried to go with the next best match-- the plastic on the airbox covers. I'm pondering a color change on the tank but I do kind of like the red. I was thinking about a two-tone metallic graphite on the tank but I want to get through the powdercoating of the wheels first and see how that looks.

A couple of updates: WM Short front Fender from Mr. T and the Gears Racing Shocks (other thread). Still waiting for snow or road salters to ruin the roads before calling it a season and pulling the wheels off for powdercoating.

RE: A few changes - Ongoing Saga
Did some additional things today. I haven't been thrilled about the way the back of the bike looks. I would love to do a complete fender chop but would lose too much functionality. I decided to go with the Chic Designs rear fender from Mr T and lose the rear luggage rack. I'm keeping the saddlebags but have always found the attachment system to be awkward at best. I ended up using the stock turn signal holes in the hand grabs for some custom brackets made of 304 stainless rod. Bend them up and threaded one end. These pics are just the mock-up as I'm tearing a lot of it back down to get the hand grabs powder coated this winter along with the wheels.

These allow me to not use the plethora of ugly straps that this bag system requires. They are held in place by this and the sleeve on the back that the bar feeds into and the large velcro strap across the top only. It eliminates the clip and nylon webbing in the front and across the back.

+1

I very much appreciate quality custom work, especially when a lot of thought goes into keeping it simple and clean.

RE: A few changes - Ongoing Saga
Winter is officially here with temps dipping below freezing on a regular basis. So it's time to get started on some of the bigger projects I have been planning for the CB.

Removed the wheels for powdercoating:

Stripped them down, pulled off everything and yanked the bearings. Off to the powdercoater this weekend for both wheels and the hand grabs. Gloss black to match the frame.

Next up is fork springs and fork oil service. Also planned: 19T front sprocket, new chain, winter service (oil, filter, brake/clutch fluid and plugs) and a few other smaller items.
