Room for One More?
Hey everybody. Thought I would check in and add my name to the list.
A couple of weeks ago, I went a couple hundred miles out of my way to acquire a new 2017 EX. Could have gotten a great deal on a 2014 locally, BUT the EX was the one I wanted and I still got the $1000. discount from Honda. Plan to keep it mostly stock with minor farkeling. Already have the chrome Honda engine guards and bikemaster 'European bend' handlebars installed. Yet to install Honda's heated grips and have Whitehouse fork bellows on the way. Reflectors have been removed and trying to find a way to(cheaply) obtain an Euro-spec license plate bracket(no reflector tabs). Only engine mod will be a reflash or power commander.
Why the CB? While in the process of finding a replacement for my dearly departed RC51, my eye always seemed to come back to the CB and the 2017 EX checked ALL the boxes of what I was looking for this time around.

Hope to find others locally, but one of the beauties about this Honey is I don't think there are a lot of these puppies out there. Now if I had gotten a Harly..,NOT!

From an RC51 to a CB1100. Dang. I am interested in hearing how that transition feels.

Welcome to the forum. Beer

G’day Chunk. Welcome to the forum. The EX is a lovely looking bike, although I’m pleased not to own spokes!

I had the 2004 RC 51 Nicky Haydn edition , the CB 1100 is MUCH easier om my old back and easier to ride in town/traffic.
I sold the RC 51 when we moved from NY to NC.
Great bike the RC 51 but I was getting too old for it.
Bought it new in 2004 and sold it in 2007

RE: Room for One More?
Thanks for the welcome!
And I very much meant no disrespect to y'all with alloy's!(Especially a moderator!). Would be awesome If Honda had taken the route BMW did though.
The RC51 transition story is that every time I went out into the garage, She sat there, watching me the way She did, with that menacing side ways glance. And Every. Single. Time, the theme from 'Jaws' would start playing in my head. This made me think about all of the time we had spent together. I then realized that She had just been playing, you know, just toying with me. Just waiting for that moment to attack.
The first strike fractured my left scapula and 6 ribs.
But I fixed her(while I fixed myself) and then dove right back into the water with her.
Big mistake. The second strike luckily(VERY LUCKY) hurt her more than me.

Now I had to be honest with myself and like Clint said,"a man has got to know his limitations. So I reevaluated. For the kind of riding I want to do now,the CB is so perfect on so many levels for me. Performance, looks, and well, Honda.

No disrespect assumed, Chunk. My personal preference is for alloys. There is plenty of love for spokes around here; I simply don't share it. I'm a rider not a cleaner.

Glad to hear you survived Ms RC51.

I wouldn't send him down that rabbit hole on the first day. You will with scare him off or change his plans on minimum farkles.
