RE: Word of Caution
Sorry to hear you have to endure this condition. I had the chicken pox when I was young and had a case of the shingles In my 60’s. I felt the onset when I felt pin pricks on the scalp of my head. That was the nerve pain before the rash came on. I went to the doctor right away and they gave me Valtrex. That really helped since the rash was close to my left eye. The meds definitely helped and the rash did go away.
Yes, I’ve had the shingles shot. That in itself is no guarantee that you won’t get shingles. It’s in your system if you’ve had chicken pox.
No one knows what triggers it. I see you’re in New Mexico, maybe check with your doctor about prescribing you Valtrex. It will provide some relief and hopefully you can start riding again.
In the meantime, rest up and get well.

RE: Word of Caution
Here's a message that a forum member very recently posted on the Moto Guzzi forum that provides some additional info re shingles vaccinations.

Bob
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a new shingles vaccine that is given in two shots and is recommended even if you had the previous vaccine.....which weakens over time.
I experienced it back in 2014 and warned many on this site the living hell I went thru for 5 weeks..... you do not want to get it! If your insurance does not cover it, the old shot was $200 at Costco. I will be checking with them next week what the two shot package will cost. You do not need to be a member to use the pharmacy.

Thank you all for your reports regarding shingles. I, too, will get the new vaccine next year when I turn 60. I must perform preventative maintenance on my body just like I do on the bike.

RE: Word of Caution
Had shingles several years ago but was able to recover in 2 weeks. It's miserable to endure. Hope you recover quickly.

1 Cor 13:4-7 (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
