2018 East Coast Rally Berea, Kentucky 5/29-6/2 2018
The leading state in the poll was KENTUCKY, .... So we are riding in Can-tuck-ee ( “Cane-tuck-ee, Cantucky, Kain-tuck-ee, Kentuckee) for 2018. We will base out of Berea.

I think the dates of Tues 5/29 - Sat 6/2 seemed to draw the most response so lets make it then.

I have ridden in this area and it's nearly as good, if not as good as West Virginia and North Carolina

I will gather some additional info on hotels and restaurants and announce that and you can start making your reservations.

I have several great loops already on file and will look at my KY map for any additional loops I can come up with.

Hope all those that voted (and more) will attend.

Let's do this!

Ok after my recon mission today I am choosing Red Roof Inn, as the base hotel for the rally. I met with the manager Charles Saunders. Nice guy. This is a non-smoking hotel, 3 floors, 60 rooms with free wifi, continental breakfast, indoor heated swimming pool, exercise room, and plenty of parking for motorcycles and cars with trailers. He said we could reserve the breakfast room for a dinner/banquet for the group free of charge. We can order in Pizza, or pick up anything else and bring it back. Just have to sorta clean up after ourselves. The after labor day room rate is $89 a night, but he offered up $65 a night for booking up to 10 rooms and above that $62 a night. All plus tax. For any couples coming he will upgrade you to a suite no charge. You just need to tell him you will be bringing your wife and request the upgrade.
Please use the code CB1100Forum to book the rooms when you call. 859-228-0340

Directions: I-75 exit 77. Turn west on 595 and take first street on left up the hill to the motel. 330 Walnut Creek, Berea Kentucky 859-228-0340
(You don’t have to stay at this hotel, lots of options on lodging, but I would recommend it. It would make hanging out and visiting, and getting out on rides so much easier if you want to go with the group).

*Note for those bringing wives. My wife said if there is any interest, she will drive down, stay a couple of days and take the wives into town shopping, exploring, to lunch or to the artisan center. Lots of options. It’s an artsy little town with lots of craft shops.

*** This itinerary is for those interested in an organized rally. Anyone and everyone is certainly welcome to follow their own schedule and do things/ ride/eat when and where they choose. In fact I encourage it. Explore, have fun, break off into like minded/skilled groups. I will have 8 printed route directions and maps for anyone interested in striking out on their own. Read the route descriptions and see what routes appeal to you. Some are longer and or more "technical" than others...all begin and end at the hotel....or make up your own routes. Lots of cool roads down there. Take off at sun up, return at dark. This is YOUR rally. Make of it what you will. The scheduled rides Tues, Wed, Thur and Friday will likely be group rides at or below speed limits (just so you are aware).

A lot of the riding will be through the Daniel Boone Natl Forest and surrounding Appalachian foothills.

Berea Ky is right off of Interstate 75 (Exit 77) and is a nice little artsy town with plenty of shopping and quaint shops to visit art museums, glass blowing etc (especially non riding wives)

We loved the town of Berea when we passed through in 2013. We stayed at the Boone Tavern Hotel; way too expensive for our group, but it was a nice luxury for one night.

Isn't KY89 super-curvy just north of McKee? If it's the road I think it is, it is pretty cool.

Looks to be a great choice Micky. We plan on being there.

Yes Sea, 89 is great, 421 is great, 30 is great, 66 is great, 11 is great

Plan to arrive when you like Mscb (you can always do some exploring if you get there before everyone else) but I will be arriving Tues around noon, and probably leaving on Sunday morning around 11.

Look forward to seeing you Ole (Josh too)

I can no longer eat them for medical reasons, but I'll bet others would enjoy them immensely
