Awesome, powerdogg! Looking forward to meeting you!

Same here MTC. Don't smoke cigars but have been known to chew on one a day or two!

I'll bring a couple of them along that I won't cry over their not being smoked. And some bourbon.

Clicked on the first page- saw the locations of the list of people attending. Ahhhh.

Not going to lie- would have greatly preferred something like Lake George NY.

Lake Placid, NY is a great spot too. I actually like it better than Lake George.

We've been to both but my wife and I went to Lake Placid every long weekend in May and Sept for about 10 years, it was only a 5 hour ride from where we lived at the time.

I plan on attending. I only live about an hour north of Berea. My buddy also has a CB1100 and I expect he'll want to go too.

Great, so are you staying a couple nights or going back and forth to home?

Don't know yet. Leaning towards driving my RV down and parking it at a local campground.

Ferret -

Would you use a similar description of the roads around Berea?

(01-23-2018 07:04 AM)The ferret Wrote:  The roads in the area of the country I live in tend to lend themselves better to a smooth riding style. The curves or turns are not hard enough or technical enough if you will to come out of one slow turn, shoot down the straight, slam on the brakes, pitch it over, and go thru another tight turn. Going fast here means maintaining speed rather than scrubbing it off, and whacking it back on. Easy application of the throttle, rolling it partially off and back on rather than snapping it on and off, very little rowing of the transmission, maybe 1 gear down and one back up, but I can ride for miles without needing to shift at all by picking my lines correctly, going in deep enough to decide whether I need brakes or need more or less lean, looking far enough through the turn to know what is coming up next and if I need to prepare for that during this turn. Most guys don't stay out far enough, go deep enough, or look far enough ahead when riding and end up getting caught out on the second or third curve.

I'm not as fast on highly technical roads, roads with blind rises and switchbacks and honestly don't enjoy them very much. Too much work.I don't want to be on and off throttle, on and off brakes, rowing the gearbox up and down. I prefer roads with rhythm or flow to them. I prefer Cherahola to the Dragon for example. I prefer the last 30 miles of the BRP before you get to Cherokee. Luckily that's what we have for the most part, and what I have found typical in the mid west, south east, and north east. It's what the roads were like near Denver as well when I went out to ride with Longranger. Also what I found in the south west. Just like the road in Guth's video

Absolutely, for the most part, although 89 can get pretty technical just north of McKee. 89 and 30 will be the most technical roads.

We rode 89 on our first group trip to the Smoky Mountains. 89 was a great introduction to the technicalities of US129 and other roads we would encounter on that trip. No center line for parts of it, if I recall.
