oh no! not oil!
yes, I'm bored and can't sleep. so, I've reviewed and can't find where I've argued oil on this forum, so here goes. modern oil is good oil. no two motors are put thru the same paces, nor exposed to identical conditions. some folk need 5w20. some need 15w50. but for the cb, I will say this... change it often. One thing any oil is for, is to clean out the gunk. The CB holds 5 quarts, and we can only change 4 of them. So dirt is staying in there. so change it often. and, yes on mine I feel a noticeably smoother shift with fresh oil. The ferret

RE: oh no! not oil!
jimgl3, it’s perfectly reasonable to launch a chat about oil. However, I am going to anticipate a market opportunity.

RE: oh no! not oil!
Well, if you really want to discuss it, how often is often?
Per Honda, first change at 600, then at 4,000, then at 8,000 etc.
My second change will come by next month, then after that I plan to switch form GN4 to HP4S in June. Probably still change the HP4S at 8,000.
That should be 3 oil changes per year.

RE: oh no! not oil!
I change mine every 2000 to 2500 miles, because I'm using the really cheap Valvoline 10/40 motorcycle oil at Walmart. I start to notice the clunky shifting at 2000 miles. likely due to the sheering of the 10/40 weight oil. my cheap butt then uses the oil in my lawn mower! LOL!

RE: oh no! not oil!
You could go 5000 miles and pay twice the price for a better oil and save time with perhaps less risk ???
