It is possible to have the flange on the wrong side- which would be problematic.

The correct placement is with the Staintune's bracket mounted on the inside of the rear footrest perch. The incorrect placement is to the outside of that perch, which would move it further away from the rear shock.

No, it was mounted correctly with the flange on the proper side of the footrest stay.
You would need to have installed a Staintune on a 2014 to understand this. It would be next to impossible to mount it wrong as Guth noted (on the outside of the footrest stay), because it would then be so far away and out of alignment with the header pipe that you would never get the compression joint sealed (or it would be extremely difficult to tighten the clamp and you could mangle things in the process).

This is a documented problem with the position/angle of the welded hanger bracket, and not me (Although, I, personally, have other documented problems). Wink

Jim21680 was the one with the worst clearance. Check out his posts and mine below:

Staintune
Mine is a 2014. Installed with zero issues.

I’ll check those pictures tomorrow and then check my bike.

My experience was the same as Gumby's and Jim's, that is, very tight clearance to the lower shock bolt, almost touching. Before I ordered my Staintune, I asked Staintune if they had resolved this issue, and they said they had. But out of the box, when installed, it almost touched the lower shock bolt. Slightly bending the mounting flange gave me ~1/4" clearance.

I have a 2014 standard.

RE: Staintune
Well, some minor tweaking won't bother me.

As soon as I get my luggage issue sorted out on the CB (have to get ready for the rally) I'm ordering a Staintune.

Thanks everyone.

That's the spirit W/R!

(Although I'd much prefer to learn that when your Staintune arrives you're able to totally skip the tweaking mode and move straight on to the full enjoyment mode of ownership.)

RE: Staintune
I solved my luggage issue today - I'm buying lash's rear carrier, Givi top box and Daytona seat so I'm all set for the rally in June.

I'll wait a month or so for my wife to calm down from that purchase before I order the Staintune.

After perusing the interwebs it seems that ordering direct from Staintune is the way to go?

Yes, but after getting an order confirmation from them, request a shipping confirmation as well that clearly shows your name and address.

After waiting some 2 months after ordering and paying for mine, I finally asked what the delay was. Turned out they shipped mine to another CB owner and then had to rush another through production for me...so, yet another few weeks delay! Maybe the "hanger tab alignment" issue was a mistake due to haste! Wink

All said, it was worth the wait and any installation hassles!
And, you should easily be able to sell it when you sell the CB...I'm pretty sure that bigsheep is happy with mine, but he hasn't had much nice riding weather yet to really appreciate it...

RE: Staintune
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Staintune isn't making any slip-ons for the 2010-2016 DLX/EX models?
b/c I don't see any twin tips from them.

No, I don't think Staintune have the dual slip-ons yet.

Your best bet would probably be the Over Racing Dual Slip-Ons from Samurider...

Although, it looks like Arrow now has Dual Slip-Ons and a new 4-into-2 header available for the DLX/EX...
