NOT so fast..

As popgun & others already mentioned 2013 2014 wiring harness is different = for sure !!
Swapping partial harness with ECU ( if it comes in few separatable sections) may not work.
Also Ulvetanna is correct with his statement:
"If you were to tear apart the gage housing, you would find computer circuitry needed to process the bike's data critical to operation.
If you were really clever you could remove only the circuit boards needed, put them into a small, separate housing, and locate that inconspicuously somewhere, like, under the seat. Run the CANBUS line to it and connect everything exactly the same as if it were the gage cluster.
The mechanical gages don't need to be connected, but, who knows how they've been integrated into the circuitry? The whole thing may be nearly impossible."

You may also have an issue with a VIN reading or writing after swapping..???
Now days with the electronics, ECU, VIN, CAN+++ it becomes very difficult if not impossible to interchange/swap parts from other vehicles. Manufactures do not want anybody to buy parts from aftermarket or wreckers, only OEM, they mean business.
Your project needs deeper study prior spending money with no results..!!
Be aware what you digging into, and I doubt if anybody can clearly say "yes , it's gonna work"

THANKFULLY THESE BIKES DON'T HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THAT.... ONLY ONES THAT I KNOW OF THAT HAVE SUCH ISSUES ARE ITALIAN BIKES LIKE DUCATI, APRILIA.... HONDA HASNT COME THAT FAR YET, WE CAN MODIFY THE HARNESS IF NEED BE OR WE HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING WHATEVER IS NEEDED FROM THE 13 INCLUDING THE ENTIRE HARNESS.

WILL UPDATE WITH IMAGES.

TODAY, I took a second = more precise look at 2013 and 14 ECM electrical/sectional diagrams ( this excludes wiring diagram for the rest of the bike, like lighting, starter, alternator...) .
Based on possessed shop manual, my observations are as follows ::
1* both ECM look very similar - do not want to state "identical", even if these have different OEM part number, practically might be interchangeable (assuming NO VIN writing needed)
2* pins location, connectors/plastic housing very similar - if not "identical"
3* even if 2013 has ABS and 2014 doesn't, both ECM may have identical motherboards and some circuits may not be used - depending on the bike MY
I cautiously would say that from previous "not so fast", I now could say:: If one is smart enough with electrical/electronics, knows how to switch pins location, decipher +++, incorporating two different harnesses/meters from 2013/14 might work for your particular project.

Above note does not interfere with or negate other members advice.

Good luck with your plan, which seems to be now more realisticClap

RE: HELP GAUGE REMOVAL /CUSTOM TACH
I've been reading this thread with interest. One thing I recall from the old "speed limiter" threads was that the speed sensor wire on the '13 goes from the rear wheel to the gauges, then somehow gets routed to the ECU. Something to keep in mind, as the ECU will limit performance if it doesn't get the speed signal.

Flyn,

Based on my electrical manual..p.5-10 to 11

For the 2013 CB1100, RWSS signal goes directly to Combination Meter, for 1100A RWSS provides signal to ABS unit...
For the 2014 CB1100A/CB1100SA, RWSS signal goes to ABS unit and then to Combination Meter , for CB1100, RWSS provides signal directly to Combination Meter
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Based on wiring diagram, p.20-2 to 6

Is as follows::
CB1100 -13 model, RWSS provides signal directly to Combination Meter...
CB1100A - 13 model, RWSS & FrtWSS provide signal directly do ABS Module
CB1100 after '13 model, RWSS provides signal directly to ABS Module
CB1100/CB1100SA after '13 model, FRT & RearWSS provide signals to ABS Module

Peter, where does the 2014 Standard CB1100 send it's RWSS signal given it doesn't have ABS?

It goes directly to the meters. Then sent to the ECU on the serial data line.

Yeah, except the ‘10-‘13 doesn’t have a serial data line. Has discrete inputs/outputs.

Houtman, I’ll have you know that I’m a legend in my own mind! Smile

Mostly because, some of us have the service manual and have read it a few times, and at least a few of us are electronic techs. And some are motorcycle techs.

Some info is explained in the manual, some you have to get by reading the wiring diagram, and some is just not available from Honda. In which case you have to investigate. Thats what 4 of us are doing with the idle problem. And we’re still working on that.

I only wish I was as smart as some of the members here. Oh well.

"Standard" , I mostly hear this about US bikles, not so sure about Australian models, and definitely NOT CDN. This is more a "nickname" ...
Based on my research, 2014 without ABS, RWSS signal goes directly to Combination Meter and then to ECU (as popgun said)..or you may say in this case RWSS = VSS = this is why it goes to speedometer first..
Standard, does it have one or two 02 sensors....?

There was a thread (I cannot find it yet) about CB VIN and you provided very good research info and how to decipher entire CB VIN

BTW, why are you digging in your motorcycle at midnight ?, it's time to sleep = goodnight ...lolROFL
