Big guy on a CB1100
Hi, I’m planning to start motorcycle training next spring, having not ridden a motorcycle since 1984 (Honda 250N Superdream). I got to sit on a CB1100 last year while at the Birmingham bike show in the UK. Being 6ft 1” I did feel as though the bike was a bit low for me. How do other tall guys feel about the CB1100?

Thanks,
Simon

Hi Simon, I'm 6'6" (36" inseam) and am comfortable on my '14 DLX. It's not a bike I could ride 1000 miles in 24 hours, but for shorter days (300-400 miles), I find it to be lovely and just about perfect. Recognize that I avoid high speed motorways like the plague and prefer to keep to two-lane mountain roads.

At 6 ft I know what you are talking about but a slightly higher seat and lowering the foot pegs it is fine.

The best way to test the fit is go sit on one for at least a half hour. Iam 5'10" with 30" inseam, can't seem to get last more than 30 minutes without having to get off and stretch for 15 minutes. That is after buying a $600.00 seat from Samurider that's supposed to be higher.

I'm 6ft with a 32" inseam. My 14 is very comfortable, except for the seat. But that's not an ergonomics issue, I just need a seat that is a little more firm. By the time my butt is tired and I need a stretch, It's close to fuel time anyway; so it all works out.

6’1” 230lbs 34” inseam. Have not had many problems in my 40,000 mikes or so on this bike. I am looking for a taller seat (k&h makes a great one) because I’m doing more distance riding —Iron Butt type stuff. Otherwise, I’d be fine with the stick seat. Hope that helps Smile

If you haven’t bought a K&H tall or had a chance to sit on one I’d be glad to let you try mine in KY this summer,
I’ll be swapping between that one and my Laam seat to see which one is best for longer distances

Looks fast sitting still

Thanks Mscb. I have a line on a taller seat, but it’s not a KH. Even if I get this one, I’d probably still be interested in trying the KH. Smile

RE: Big guy on a CB1100
$500 from wherever was way too much for me for a seat, so I used a couple of Dick's bleacher pads (black) at $5.99, kept in place by straps going on top and under the seat. But I own a KLR650 so that might explain the frugality.

Bar risers balanced everything out. Did some long riding with this setup, but also put on engine guards which gave me some room to install a $20 pair of hiway pegs--they looked fine and did the purpose. Didn't use the outstretched leg position much, but it felt great to have that option during long 10 hour+ days.

I'm 'bout 6'4" with 34" seam
