About pull-on boots?
I recently picked up a pair of Wolverine Wellingtons which are very comfortable but not very warm. I am thinking of using them for riding boots since they are easy to pull on and I don't need the warmth because I don't ride when it's below 40 degrees.

The problem is I am concerned if they are easy to get on, they would come off just as easily should I need them to do the job of protecting my feet and ankles in a crash.

Any thoughts on this? Is there any data?

If you would put your head in a helmet it wouldn't be empty.

There is plenty of data: boots, gloves, even pants and jackets will fly off when you hit the pavement moving. YooToob has lots of videos showing it happening on the street and track.

Any boot is better than flip-flops or sneakers, but if they are easy to slip off on purpose, they'll be just as easy to come off by accident.

Go hagofuku yourself.

I spent 62 days in loma Linda university medical center in June of 2012, and trust me when I say full size lace up motorcycle boots and good boot socks will go a long way in an accident. When getting hit from the left side and your leg is being compressed into the motor, a tight fitting boot will save your lower leg from lots of trauma... I hope none of you ever find out how well good boots work. :-)

RE: About pull-on boots?
Since you are requesting opinions ......

My touring and my sport riding boots are both motorcycle specific leather calf high boots with ankle and shin protection. My casual riding boots are over the ankle leather " work style" lace up the front boots. The former two I usually wear with armored motorcycle specific riding pants, the latter I wear with blue jeans. Sometimes I just don't feeling like wearing all the gear.

At 63 with 47 years of " legal" street riding experience, I'm fully aware that the more protective gear you are wearing the better off you are. I choose what clothes I put on in the morning.

If you are asking if you'd be better off with motorcycle specific boots, I think you know the answer to that question. If you're asking if it would be ok to wear the Wellingtons while riding? Sure, if that's what you choose to do knowing full well the risks.
