I used to wear a long sleeve cotton T-shirt, and keep a small bicycling water bottle handy for sleeve dousing. But the ice lasts longer, is a more gradual release, and requires less effort & stopping to redouse.
I rode past a gas station thermometer once that said 128 degrees. I passed 3 semi trucks that were making a terrible clattering noise, but on the third one I finally realized
that noise was from my Harley Sportster bouncing off the trucks. I stopped for half an hour and let that poor Sporty engine cool down a little, then I got a cheap hotelroom in Lake Havasu City until it cooled down to 100 that night.
Glad I ain't young & dumb like that anymore. Riding across the desert in those kinda temps ain't fun and it's borderline dangerous.
