Nice one indeed. What a treasure to have.

What colour is it, BackOnTrack?

Hi Cormanus. My previous reply should have read @Cormanus not @Guth. Sorry for that (I was answering your question). The bike is black and came all stock. I accessorised a bit with Samurider/Takashi's help. I friend of mine has another one (Black, 2011, Sydney) in his collection, still in showroom condition!

Hm, afaik it's a 6 digit serial no, and here it's 10001?

Huh? In his picture it clearly shows 100001.

I think Django just miss typed the number.

The bike is not #1, it is #100001 Still, a cool number.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Yes Django, Randy B & popgun. Its 100001. I noticed while adding the info for our forum registry (Guth asked for the last 4 digits of VIN and location).

What does this VIN mean anyway?
1st bike to come out of the factory in 2011?
I think the bike started production in 2010 or earlier in Japan?!
My impression was that the VIN is a sequential no: from first to last bike in the series and does not restart numbering with each production year.

It is serial #1 for that model year. Honda uses the first digit of the last six to show the number of the production year in that country.

I.E. 2013 was the first year the CB1100 came to the states and my last 6 are 000015.
If it were a 2014 it would be 100015 and that is the second year of it being sold here.

If the same convention applies in Aus—and why wouldn't it—the 2010 models would have VINs ending in 0xxxxx. My 2011 ends 100062. As RandyB says, the first of the final six digits indicates the number of years the model has been imported to the country 0=1; 1=2; 2=3; etc.
