Oregon spring ride report
I headed out today for a bit more highway time and to check on how my CB is fairing in the MPG department (I've been getting less than 40 mpg in the stop 'n go city traffic that is my weekday commute). I got in around 150 miles total today but filled up before receiving any kind of warning from the instrument panel. My travels included this beautiful stretch of road. The CB performed really well on this trip and the plentiful torque allowed me to work through all of the twists & turns with far less shifting than I've been used to. Temps were in the 80's and there was abundant sunshine. All in all it was just about a perfect day for a ride. The exception being that I got stuck in bumper-to-bumper stop 'n go traffic crawling along at a snail's pace for about 15 minutes on Hwy 26 before I could turn off onto Hwy 47. Even with that setback, I averaged 53 mpg today and am quite happy with that.

Before making my way out of the city, I stopped by the local Ducati dealership to see what they had on hand for tail bags. While I was there every employee that happened to be outside stopped by to look at the CB, all of whom were extremely complimentary of the bike. I was surprised to see it garner so much attention at a place full of Italian exotica, but it was a big hit.

The CB, ready to roll:

Wow sounds like a great day. The CBis like having an automatic in some situations. No reason to stir the gearbox, just put it in 5 th and go. Big Grin

My wife and I were out in Oregon this past September touring Montana,Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Wyoming on our Honda ST. Beautiful country out there. You could easily spend 2 weeks touring each of those states.

Big Grin I can live with that. Rarely do we see springtime like this. We've had a fairly sunny (relative term) winter, followed up by a thus far incredible spring. I'm getting worried that we're somehow going to get cheated out of our summer this year. I had the tail pack loaded up on my ride — with my loaded tank bag of all things. Figured I might as well put something in there. Didn't really think about it again for the rest of the ride.

Meanwhile in VA we are waiting for Spring!

At least you guys have warm weather, PLUS, the PNW has, IMHO, the best beer made in America (insert thumbs up smilie here)

By the way popgun, I did get your thumbs-up smiley request. Still looking into it. And there is no doubt in my mind that the PNW is in fact Beervana. Alas, I only drink after I'm done riding (no preaching, just a promise I made to myself) otherwise there would be plenty of great beer stops to be made around here any given day.

Guth,

Thanks for looking into the smilie thing. Not meaning to aggravate youWink

Yeah, not preachy, no alcohol and riding for me either. But, I travel to the Everett and Bremerton area a few times a year and the local beers are just too good! I'm not moving out there thoughBig Grin
