That is not correct. It depends on if the manual states "oil capacity" which we can assume is the amount your engine is supposed to hold when full. IOW- a first fill of a brand new engine.
The amount of oil to add when doing an oil change will be different. Less. Old oil gets trapped in the engine recesses that do not drain out when you remove the oil drain plug and wait for gravity to do its part. That is why on an oil change, we will overfill the engine if we add the stated "oil capacity" amount.
It's not so hard.
