Oops, just realized it was not the torx style ones I needed to remove for the one caliper, a 12 mm socket did just fine, once I identified the correct ones :-)

Just out of curiosity, why are you removing the calipers? When I pulled my front wheel for a tire change, I seem to recall leaving the calipers mounted.

well the manual says to remove the left one, but I tried without it of course, and the tire would not fit between the two calipers, one did have to be removed to make room.

it's so much easier to take both calipers off.

Yea I took both off. Easier to remount the calipers than it is to try and slide the rotors back in.

Hmmm. I must have been thinking of the CB750's wheel, which I removed last month. Now that you guys mention it, I do recall loosening the left caliper on the CB11. Blush

On both CBs I use wood shims to hold the pads apart when the wheel is out. Makes it much easier to slide the disc back into the caliper on reassembly.

how tight was the front axle sliding in and out of the wheel once off the bike ? mine slides in and out easy with the slightest bit of play !
had to weld a piece of metal onto my new lift also because it was not long enough to safely lift my bike but I got er done.
mine also had Alan head pinch bolts.
I will wash the bike for the first time when I get it back together , been having to much fun .

Good job. Screw those 2x4's together and then screw them to a piece of 1/4 ply and you won't have to balance and stack them every time you need them. Just throw the assembled form on your jack, lined it up and you're good to go.

Good Idea but I can't do that.
have to slide under the two center pipes before I can put the wood on the other side.
I will attach them on the jack side for more stability and the bike is strapped from the handle bars to the jack now. I get the front wheel balanced in the morning and back on the road after a wash Thumbs Up

AhhI was worried their wouldn't be enough clearance for that. Too bad. I made a set up like that for my Triumph Bonnieville which didn't come with a centerstand
