Find it?

Turns out it never left the van - we found it later behind her seatSmile

I took a 200 mile twisty ride in Amish country in northeast Ohio. Got the "what year is that?" question at a gas station. Guy was a CB305 rider from way back and didn't know about the new ones.

Fun day.

I ride the CB half an hour to the dealer for a service. They leant me an NC700S to play with. It's a bit of fun, but I'd much rather have the CB! Smile

That has to be the best part of dealer service for any vehicle - the loaner. Smile
It's nice to see a few more standard motorcycles, even if they do approach Transformers/jet skis in the process.

I decided I really like the clever design that allows what used to be the fuel tank to be used as very generous storage space. One of the real downsides of bikes the style of the CB is there is virtually nowhere to put anything.

That's no reason to get rid of it and I'm not going to, but there are real benefits from advances in design thinking as well as mechanical advances like FI.

Edit: By the way, Ferret, the NC700s has the new left switch configuration. I managed OK but gave someone a blast on the horn trying to turn off the indicators when I got back on the CB. I share your pain. But only briefly.

Ferret, this many weeks into having a 2014, have you adjusted to the new switch layout?

NO, the other day I blew the horn instead of turn signal 3 times, although I didn't blow the horn last night while signaling, but then again I haven't ridden the two other bikes since I got back from Cali. I think one on one I could get used to it eventually, but switching bikes is still going to mess me up I'm afraid.

Cormanus the flip side to the tank being storage is if you have a passenger or strap anything to the back seat, it makes it a pain to get gas since the filler lid is under the passenger seat. I know 2 guys that have NC 700s (one is a nephew) and that is their complaint with the bikes. They love the storage too btw.

Every cloud, eh? I hadn't thought of that. Maybe the solution is to find a way to get the filler under the drivers seat? By the way, this one also had Honda OEM panniers which were pretty nice things too.

It was fun to ride and, as I had to wait a while for the CB to be done I took it for a reasonable trip. I liked its size, weight and maneuverability; I found the twin rough after the smoothness of the CB—although it wasn't really bad; and I missed the effortless torque.
