RE: How To install Fork Boots aka Gaiters
OK, since I don't actually HAVE my 2017 EX (yeah, when I placed a deposit on January 11th, they said "about two weeks" . . . it's not in yet . . . the wait is killing me) I'm spending money right and left on accessories. Anyway, today it occurred to me that there have been changes in the forks and shocks for 2017, though the EX forks are still 41 mm.

Anyone know if the Kawasaki W650 fork boots (49006-1335) fit the 2017 EX? The boots just arrived today and look really nice.

I have a pair of Triumph gaiters too and all I have to do is get my butt in gear and do the same thing.
Thanks for the incentive to get moving Thumbs Up

I should have also thanked ferret for the great tutorial on how to do this installation.
Because of Photobucket the pictures are now missing, but the narrative is easy to follow.
I haven't completed the installation yet, but I've done a dry run with sockets and Allen wrenches so I know what goes where.
At least that's something Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Still wondering if anyone has installed them on a 2017 EX . . . I have the bike and the gaiters; just would rather not pull the tubes if there is any issue with this installation . . .

OK, answered my own question this morning. The W650 gaiters fit perfectly on a 2017 EX. I even bought and installed the little black clamps that fit the top of the gaiters, though they are such a snug fit that I doubt they'd slip down the tubes.

And they look as though they belong; to me, they don't draw my attention to the forks as much as the stock (no gaiters) shiny tubes did.

RLETs are next, but have to wait until I have a big enough parts order for free shipping . . .

The 2017s are so new and so few on the board we are just learning what fits and what doesn't. Thanks for taking the lead on whether the gaiters would fit the 2017 or not. Btw I don't use any clamps on my 14 dlx. They are plenty tight, but it certainly won't hurt to have them on there.

Looking forward to seeing a pic of them on your 17
