RE: 19 tooth countershaft sprocket installation on 2013
Gonna assume its the loss of the oem dampener. Not super loud just kinda sounds like when youre not pedaling on a bicycle and just coasting. Chain is at a perfect 1.2 inch tension with both wheels on the ground. Shaved .1 inch off the metal chain guide for clearance. Rode it on my daily commute, getting the results as far as rpms, couldnt tell how loud the sound of the clicking was over the gpr exhaust. Ridea smooth enough. For now ill keep my legs mostly up on the highway pegs in case my chain wants to leave the new sprocket, its the 377-19 by pbi everyone is talking about so i assumed it was ok on the original 530 chain. Thanks for the feedback

You need more clearance, its hitting the guard. No big deal but I would take care of it soon. Take the guard off and see if its the problem.

I got the same noise after changing the sprocket on my wife's V-strom. The new sprocket hasn't a noise damper and makes a clicking sound.

Many years ago, the manufacturers used to offer oem sprockets -1 and +1 for their bikes. They no longer do that unfortunately.

Now, I'm more sensitive to 4-cylinder vibration that most people, so for many, or most, it's not an issue. After riding a 2014, I found 5th gear is about 3600rpm, a good trade-off of power and comfort. But 6th gear is just like hitting Hyperspace -3200rpm and NO vibes. That may be a little too low for me, as it doesn't roll on with a lot of beans.
But I love my 2013, so I found a 19T countershaft sprocket from PBI Sprockets. This company makes great quality stuff, and are always my first choice. The number was 377-19, on the shelf, and just $25.15 plus tax/shipping! It bolted onto the countershaft fine, BUT you will need to make a minor modification.
The 19T sprocket will not clear the steel plate that acts as a guard that protects the cases if the chain gets way too loose, or breaks. You need to grind it slightly for clearance. I ordered a new plate (PLATE, 11365-MAZ-000) from Honda - less than $10. I marked the approximate area in black before cutting, clamped it in a vise, and used a 4" angle grinder. (I probably took just a little more off than I needed to). A round or curved file would have worked as well, really not taking that much off.
Loosen the chain, bolt the sprocket in place, slide the plate in, and reassemble. Readjust the chain - it only changes the adjustment very slightly.
RPMs at 70mph dropped to about 3775 (1-18 of 4000 rpm is 222 rpm), a slight improvement, but still very noticeable - and very cheap.
I special-ordered a tool-steel 37T rear sprocket, but have not received it yet. I'll report when I get it. I expect it to drop it to a comfy 3575 rpm (that's 200 rpm more drop, or 2/39 of the current 3775 rpm).
Thanks excellent advice much appreicated.

19 tooth countershaft sprocket installation on 2013
You will like it if you want lower revs. I have both the 19t and the 37t rear mod gearing now and love it ..

Sprocket Specialists will make a hard-anodized aluminum sprocket for $55.
I don't know of anyone making a 37 tooth steel sprocket.
