No, thankfully we here in the U.S. don't have to contend with shiny, wet paving stones.
Many years ago our cities were paved with them and we catch a view of them under the asphalt sometimes when a street is opened for utilities service or repair. I can think of one steep hill near me that still has them but that's about it. The Belgian Block that was used became so desirable for private drives and for landscaping uses that a couple of entire city blocks of them were dug up and stolen in the middle of the night! And nobody saw anything!
