RE: How to Install Fork Springs
I see...Thanks
And my 15 was to heavy. I bet your 5 or a 7.5 is perfect.
I did like the feel of the Hyper-Pro's, being progressive they smoothed the ride out some with a bit better performance.
Race tech is what I always used at the track in the past, you should see real gains on the handling.

Preload Error
After this morning's test ride it was obvious 25mm preload was WAY too much, rest to 5mm preload, much better.

Here's the specs on what I ended up with:

RE: How to Install Fork Springs
Questions:

When you were talking of 25 mm preload initially, did you mean compressing the spring by the means of the
preload adjuster, or were you talking about the length of the spacer, or what?

Second: why did you go with such short springs?

Third: Why did you not do cartridge valve emulators while you were at it?

Fourth: Since you went from 75kg/mm to 100 kg/mm springs, how has the bike coped with
sudden sharp changes, that affect rapid compression.

Lastly: How's the rebound working out?

thanks

RE: How to Install Fork Springs
This thread originally showed up while I was on vacation, so I missed it first time around.

Did anyone ever figure out why Honda went with asymmetric springs and spacers in the DLX only? Compensating for the symmetric exhaust pipes?Big GrinBig Grin I remember it was discussed when the DLX first came out, but I don't recall anyone coming up with a good reason for the change.

I can only imagine that it was a fix for the dlx's extra 30 pounds of weight. Why they did it that way only the engineers know.it certainly doesn't make any sense to me.

RE: How to Install Fork Springs
Old thread, but can the springs be swapped with forks on? Like remove caps, swap springs? I’m 270 pounds so the stock suspension is the next upgrade. Looking at race tech front springs and Hagon rear shocks. Also hoping to do the delkevic header...

RE: How to Install Fork Springs
I'd like to add to this. I swapped my springs out tonight on my 14 std. looked high and low for a level number w springs removed, collapsed.

took my springs out carefully as not to lose any oil and measured with forks collapsed. both were @ 125mm. I never saw if the 117mm number from honda was with springs in or out, but mines never been apart or leaked, so i went with that number. swapped the oil, put in the new springs w the stock spacers as the old vs new springs were within 3mm of each other, and it feels perfect to me @ 205 lbs w the Race Tech S3534100 . changed preload from 3.5 turns in to 1.75 with the new springs. just fyi if this helps anyone.
