2013 Air box plug - had anyone removed?
Just wondering if anyone has popped this plug out to get more air? And why it's there?
It appears to have some sort of sealant around it but it's a rubber plug and comes off easy enough.

I guess no one else has done this, so what we're your findings?

I think that hole is the fresh air supply for the PAIR valve, which is factory deleted on North American bikes.

Some of us have taken the whole thing off and installed a part made by TSR to hold the air filter in place. ($100 TSR air intake funnel).
I think the air box snorkel removable makes a slightly noticeable difference but there's a downstream bottleneck - namely the 25mm intake to the throttle bodies - that restrict the amount of air into the engine. So the difference is not significant.

All CBs, regardless of destination, have a small inlet off the air box with a rubber line to provide filtered air to the PAIR Valve. This large cap is not to cover that inlet.
I'm fairly certain it is a cap to cover the hole necessary for a vacuum actuator for the Interactive Exhaust Valve Servo Motor which is not on North American CB's.
I doubt that removing this cap on North American CBs would have much affect.

Removed mine, best I could tell no change in performance. Figure easier breathing is an improvement.
