Honda Japan bikes that they should bring over here
Henrik, sadly perhaps, my desire is not the only consideration in the purchase of a motorcycle. There's boring old money; but, a stronger voice is the Pillion. Need I say more?

In any event, I'm very happy with my non-ABS, black 2011 CB1100. The import was just an example of how ridiculous the whole business is. At the very least everyone could agree on who sets the 'highest' standard and allow unconstrained imports of bikes that met that standard..

I should add that Australia has uniform standards for vehicles. We don't suffer from the California problem.

I test rode a GB500 when it first came out. Expensive and viby. Well, that's what I thought. Seemed to have a fair amount of vibe for a twin. It was not until later I learned it was a single!

For me, the wrong bike at the wrong time. Now a small set of folks lust after them. Go figure.

I figure it will be exactly the same with our CB's. It flew in under the radar of so many, they missed it. Years down the road, I really think it will have a cult following, and prices will be at a premium, just as they are with the GB.

I feel a lot more like I do now than I did when I got here.

I was working in Africa when the GB500 came out. I wanted it bad and figured I would get one latter. Bad decision! Now I have a hard time paying for one whereas I can get a used CB1100 for the same price. But my heart still longs for that GB500! Maybe that is a use for this years bonus.

So, if I want a CB1100 EX (or DLX because as much as I like to look at spokes, I don't want to have to clean them) in Australia, I ought to be able to ask my friendly Honda dealer to press the order button and have one shipped from the factory. How hard can it be?

That makes too much sense so it won't happen. Though as long we don't have to go by California standards I'm OK with it.

Your concern about California is a wee bit misplaced. Euro Standards are driving more of what you seem to be worried about (e.g. emissions, ABS, Traction control etc.)
