RE: Removing Seat and Tool Tray to Access Battery
Hey Ferret and all,
perhaps I'm just stating the obvious or perhaps there's a slight difference between my '13 and the later models but thought I'd make mention of the tool bag holder so that you don't have to use up space in storage tray ... I recall one member was using it to covertly transport candy bars so maximum carrying capacity may be required. Anyway if this is simply stating the obvious please delete my post to save me from looking too silly.

Ignore the foam rubber stuck to the frame, it's just there to protect the frame from getting scratched from my homemade single seat. Also ignore the weird looking rear mudguard, it's the rough side of the fiberglass homemade mudguard.

Aussieflyer - I just went and looked at my 2013 and it has the same hooks as your does. Is that the stock tool kit sack they provide in Australia? Mine is much, much, smaller.

And let's get back to the two plastic hooks in the bottom of the storage tray, which are clearly visible here. It seems that Honda had a number of different configurations in mind for the storage band. Once I get mine from partzilla, I will do some experimentation.

That space you have the tool bag in is actually for the U lock

Postoak - Yes that is the standard toolkit issued in Aus. We only received the early run of the CB1100's around 2010/11 ... perhaps the later models came with different versions of toolkits.

Popgun - Aha, thanks. I use a disc lock which fits into the storage tray and as you can see the toolkit fits nicely in that U lock spot. I've never let the instructions get in the way of learning things the hard way!!

I got my parts in today so reinstalled the box. It was actually kind of hard. You had to put a lot of sideways pressure on the wiring bundle to get the box positioned over the holes. My wife was walking by and I snagged her into helping me, and it was a big help.

I routed the rubber band differently than you, Ferret. I ran it through the two hooks in the bottom of the box, which separated the box into two parts. I put the tool kit behind the band:

Yeah, that's how it's supposed to go Smile

Aussie, good idea to free up the box. I just can't do it as I have a U lock

Those old enough to remember and appreciate the Goons would now understand how it came to pass that I took your advice, popgun, and got the manual out from under the seat but still couldn't understand how to get the seat off. Huh

Yeah, I had to get the dealer shop to show me how to remove the seat so I could get the owners manual from under the seat. What were they thinking?
