2017 CB1100EX Skene P3 Rear Lights Install
With this install, all 3 of my current bikes are outfitted with the Skene P3 rear visibility lighting system. I choose the version that also links with the turn signals and this time, I went with the decelerometer feature as well. Hopefully, this will help anyone looking to install these cut out some of the "how do I make that work?" time.

To save anyone not familiar with these lights from having to scroll through this whole install thread, here's what they look like in action.

They have a flicker when "at rest" which helps increase visibility all the time.

As seen in the videos, I mounted the lights using the license plate frame. Here's what the mount and wiring looks like from behind.

Side view of the wiring going up into the taillight assembly.

I didn't want any wires to be visible going over the beautiful chrome fender, so I routed the P3 wires along the rear taillight wiring path. I tried doing this without fully removing the fender. Bad idea. Didn't work. Fully removing the fender made it possible. Not easy, but possible.

This made access to the wiring channel much better. I taped the 2 sets of wires together and was able to push them through the channel. Very tight fit, but doable.

Once the wires are through the channel, everything fits nicely back in the original holders/path.

Resulting in a "look ma', no wires!" installation

Wiring up the controller to the taillight and turn signal wires is made easy with Posi-Tap connectors. I don't know how we survived before these. We were such savages.

I ordered a male side plug for the under-seat accessory plug and used that to connect the controller power leads. Worked great. Could also just posi-tap into the wires on the female side of the plug, but I liked the cleanliness of this approach.

Because I chose the decelerometer option, the controller itself had to be mounted in a horizontal position and facing forward. Using velcro tabs, I mounted it on top of the fuse box. Easy to pull off for accessing fuses, but nice and tidy during normal operations. Also added some wire sheaths just because.

I was able to tuck the rear light wiring back into the rubber boot and back up in place behind the little OEM screw-mounted clip that is there. I have a pic but am maxed out for this post. Trust me, it's tucked back in and the tool tray fit nicely right back in place.

If you were thinking about adding these lights to your bike--it's very doable and makes a big difference in rear visibility. Highly recommend them.
