I found my first Honda in a barn. A 1983 CB1100 Super Bol D'or with 23000k's
Hi guys from Brisbane Australia. I recently came across a 1983 CB1100 Super Bol D'or. Only done 23000 k's before being put in the shed. 25 years ago. The day it was serviced at the dealers. So I checked the oil , yes it's still there and liquid. The fork legs need re chroming , I'd be hesitant to trust the swing arm as there could be rust. The original exhaust needs replacing as the cans have been broken in transit. But the bike is complete apart from those issues. And when I say complete I mean even the stickers on the fuel tank are there and if you look at the rubber pads on the pegs, and go by that as how much the internals were used, I'd say it a fair bet that everything in there will work as if it was brand new.
I've yet to put a properly charged battery in to turn it over as I've only had it for a few hours. But with the old battery that was in it, it still turned the engine over, never started but I wouldn't want it to anyway until I've put a flush and at least new oil and filter. The fuel tank looks imacculate. No rust. It will need new discs I'd say.
So if there are any enthusiasts in my area of Tingalpa, you're welcome to come and look at what they are supposed to look like, as in where all the wires ran, all the bikes original qualities before the upgrades started ripping all the parts off it.

Barnfinder, neat find, congrats.

You will probably be more interested in the 1979-1983 DOHC forum. This forum is for the NEW CB1100 which shares nothing with your bike other than displacement and heritage.

We always appreciate old Hondas and pics of old Hondas though so feel free to hang around and participate

G'day from the Sunshine Coast, Barnfinder. I'd love to have a look someday. For various reasons, though, might take a while.

I'd also like to see pictures.

Unfortunately, the early 80's DOHC bikes just don't have a good forum available like this one. I looked hard when I had the 82 CB750 and the ones out there are either extremely slow with no active users or over emphasize the "search before you ask" to the point of driving users away.

I don't think anyone here will mind if you talk about your old bike, there just won't be as much support for answering questions as you would like since it is based around the 2010-2014 version of the CB1100. Don't let that chase you off though.

Hi guys, understood about the forum being for the modern version.
Here us a pic of the bike I found in the barn, literally.
It is fully complete and I mean, every single part is on the bike including the small fairing around the headlight. I have plans to restore to showroom specs. Easily done when no parts are required. I am a spray painter by trade so I can do sly the prep work and the painting, the fork legs are being sent to Rad Hard Chroming at Salisbury Brisbane. $340 will have em better than new. A new set of discs all round and every caliper getting a complete overhaul.
Then spray the engine and components high temp black & machine the fins to get that contrast. Because this bike has 17 inch rims I can put decent rubber on it. Pilot Road 4's perhaps. I will be taking pics at every stage along the way so I can update you guys if interested . Any helpers or "supervisors" I live at Tingalpa, in Brisbane. Qld. AUSTRALIA.

Very cool. I would encourage you to start a new thread in the Other Bikes section of the forum detailing the work that you're doing with the CB1100F. I'll be interested to see how it progresses over time. Best of luck with it and welcome to the forum!
