You can get the Tankslappers in several different materials, I guess some of that thicker stuff really protects but I believe the thinnest, cheapest option is nearly invisible.

I have the inexpensive, reusable TankSlapper. It is nearly invisible, as glossy as the paint and serves the purpose I want: to protect the paint from my tankbag magnets.

I know a guy who's used that version for years, with really good results.
