CB1000?
Last weekend I stopped by the dealer where I got my CB. When I pulled up I saw what at first glance was a CB11, but when I got a look at it I found it was a CB1000. The guy who owned it walked up and I had to ask what year it was. He said it was a '94. I had no idea Honda ever made that. He told me he was looking to trade it for a CB11. Anyway just was wondering about that CB1000 if anyone here has ever ridden or owned one. It looks like Honda got a bit of inspiration for the CB11 from that bike, it looked like the side covers are interchangeable.

It was out at the same time the 750 nighthawk was and it was also called "The big one". Everyone I have ever talked to that owned one said that they are a great bike. If that bike was available fuel injected???....oh boy.

Build it and they will come... or not.

Like many of the great bikes Honda built over the years the CB1000 did dot sell well in the U.S. of A., unfortunately.

CB1000?
Reading the article, They should blame the marketing guys, not claim that 'they were right.' Same with the CB1100. No/poor marketing is a big issue.

No more CB, but a GB.
Triumphs and Ducatis.
A Norton, MV, and Morini 175.
Probably others.

That bike does not appeal to me at all. Looks like a 919 or 599. May have been a perfectly fine motorcycle but I would have never bought one.

RE: CB1000?
I liked it. I took a few long rides on a friend's CB1 back in the 90s, when I was in the market for a new bike. Power was very similar to our CB1100s, but being water cooled, it seemed a bit smoother and quieter.

Ultimately, I could not deny my love for the standard, air cooled UJM and ended up buying the CB750 Nighthawk.

"Americans were mainly into image rather than practicality, the big divide being between cruisers and performance bikes,"

Yeah, they pretty much nailed it. Still that way mainly. I am just so glad that Honda kept trying.
