Without more information, I would guess the problem is your IACV.

Instead, it does indeed include a altimeter in the form of an atmospheric pressure sensor. The O2 sensor is basically there to lean out the air/fuel ratio as much as possible under certain circumstances in conjunction with the catalytic converter for reduced emissions purposes.

Most fueling adjustments are made on the intake side of things, based on calculations involving other various sensor inputs including intake-port pressure, engine coolant temperature, intake-air temperature and the previously mentioned atmospheric (barometric) pressure.

Exactly!...that is why the CB only has a "Narrow Band 02 Lambda Sensor". Narrow Band Sensors only have enough range and precision to function in an emissions testing capacity.

Only a "Wide Band Sensor" like those used in Power Commander's Auto Tune Systems could possibly do all of the things Ulvetanna is assuming.

Hmmm,so it only helps pass an emission test, but when you crack on it and go it gets the gas.I wonder if any former VW employees have taken employment at Honda.Tongue

RE: Installing an 02 sensor eliminator
just would like to see a dyno run to find out exactly what difference the mod makes

every honda bike has a different combination of sensors and programming, no way to know what the hardware change does without the data

why not take it to a dealer and have it diagnosed

a guy on the zx-10r forum decided to remove and adjust his cam chain tensioner for example

he overtightened it and the bike will not idle

he may have damaged his engine as the service manual specifically says what to do and he did not follow the procedure and now is on the web looking for someone to help him

brand new bike too

as we just saw a member here torqued some small bolts to a very high value and snapped them off not knowing his mistake

seem to recall the shock bolt also was snapped off by one or two members

not everything can be fixed or solved by intuition or the internet lol

RE: Installing an 02 sensor eliminator
Bought 02 eliminator on eBay (15.38 Euro from Greece).
Installed it on saturday morning (about five minutes).
Rode the bike for 250 km, up and down from home (at sea level) to mount Etna (road ends at 2000 m above sea level).
Smoother throttle responses at low revs.
Surging at small throttle openings was solved.
Gear shifting under 3500 rpm seems to be quite easier.
No issues.
Worth the money!
Thumbs Up

RE: Installing an 02 sensor eliminator
After reading all the good advice seen here I just bought one also off a UK vendor. Supposed to be here around the 9th - 15th. I am frustrated with the sometimes low RPM surging in 1st gear and even second that if this fixes it then this will be a perfect bike.

Do you, or I suppose anyone reading this, notice more surging when it is particularly hot outside? Also, let us know how things go with the eliminator and, if they go well, please send me the vendor info.

Thanks!

I've experienced it in cool and warm weather. I always thought it was my miss-handling of the clutch and throttle and that may still be the case but we will know after I install it and run around town in low speed and low gear stop and go situations. Like last weekend. I spent two hours running around town trying to get better at smooth riding in town and experienced it if I was not very careful in slipping the clutch when throttling down at low speed in traffic. It would surge and then jump forward and then go back to a lower speed and I had to focus hard on keeping it as smooth as possible while not killing it in traffic and also watching traffic. It can wear you out.

Not here yet. It is in Flushing NY just in case you were wondering. It will be in one of those "Royal Mail" packages. The local post office delivery gal always hand delivers those like it was direct from the Queen herself. Who knows, right?
